Can someone take a picture of the AC-AC power supply the massdrop objective 2 comes with, showing the specs?
The one on the left:
I couldn't use it so I had to order a new one (with europlug, 15VAC 230V 50Hz from Head 'n' Hifi). Also I'd say the quality is somewhat questionable. Seams on the cover weren't even and that "Class 2" text isn't very reassuring.
On top of that I'm not sure if my O2 (1x-3,3x) is defective. It sounds noticeably worse than AE-5's headphone out. I also did RMAA mesurements and it did show rather massive differences in dynamic range ( >10 dBA) and stereo crosstalk (~11 dB) in favour of AE-5. AE-5 even hit the ADCs SNR and dynamic range limitations while O2 didn't. Well, I didn't expect them to be identical and expected that either one is better but the difference is so large that I have feeling that something is not right with my unit.
I've been following the O2 conversation over on head-fi.
To everyone buying this amp:
The O2 from massdrop is crap unless you get the correct power supply for it (15v from JDS Labs). The 12v is underpowered and will make the amp clip at higher volumes.
Does the new power adapter you got have any issues powering the amp?
No. Also I currently have HD 595 and you could probably get enough power from potato for that. I couldn't even try the adapter that Massdrop bundled because the wrong plug type so I can't compare. The one I bought is optimal for O2 though.
