View Full Discussion Just a note if it might help any other Aussies around, I bought this power adapter on ebay, was the cheapest I could find that is between 12 and 20VAC. I'm pretty sure it will work fine with the O2. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321819309334
i saw your suggestion about the ebay power supply for us aussies. are you soldering a plug onto your power adapter? im no engineer, so how will i know what wire to solder where?
Well, there's three wires coming from the plugpack that I bought. One will be earth, which I won't connect (this is usually green or green/yellow), and it's AC so the other two can be wired either way around, one to the barrel and one to the pin on the connector. I haven't checked which wire is the earth yet. The earth wire will be connected to the middle (bottom) pin on the mains plug.
The plugpack that I bought is actually 1.5A so it's slightly physically larger than I would have preferred, but it should actually work better than the smaller transformers.
Also I bought this item to get a right angle plug to connect it to the O2 (since we can't get rear power!): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111221097130
I'll cut that plug off, strip off the ends of the wires, put heatshrink tubing over one (don't forget to do this before soldering!), then solder them together and then pull the heatshrink over and use a lighter to shrink the tubing to insulate it. I'm sure there's youtube vids around about splicing the wires together and insulating with heatshrink. It sounds more complicated when writing it out like this than it actually is.
I just measured my transformer, there's a green, blue and red wire. Green goes to earth which I won't connect, and blue and red are the live ones that should go to the plug.
