Got my O2 finally. Paired it with the DACport Slim and drives my HE-400s with ease.
Sweet set-up! Quick question if you don't mind indulging: do you notice any audible difference running your K7XX from only the DACport Slim versus the Slim+O2? If so, how would you describe the difference(s)?
I have the Slim, expecting the K7XX and would like to know whether an O2 would make any noticeable, worthwhile difference (outside of it outputting more power).
Thank you! Have been switching through headphones and just got to my K7XX, as of right now I'd say it's pretty transparent, I did what Centrance said about putting the DACport Slim at maximum volume on low gain to use with the O2. As far as I can hear it's pretty much the same solid state sound with and without the O2.
I also have the Schiit Vali and Little Dot 1+ with Voshkod tubes and they're definitely colored with that warm tubey sound.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply. Interesting. Although the O2 outputs more power, what you say might mean that the O2 (+Slim) vs the Slim's amp (on its own) do not show any sound reproduction differences with respect to the K7XX; they probably do with the HE-400s though since planars love power.
If I'm interpreting correctly, that should save me money from not having to bother with the O2. I'm guessing far more expensive amps, DACs or DAC/amps would make a difference but those diminishing returns do not interest me at all. I'll satisfy myself with the Slim - K7XX pairing then (once I receive the latter). This definitely helps, thank you.
