You'll be double-amping your source if you connect your amp to the O2+ODAC's headphone out. I'm not sure how Massdrop's model works, but with the JDS model I have it works like this: when the device is turned off with the power cable still connected, the INPUT 3.5mm jack works as a line out straight from the ODAC, skipping the O2 amp, which you can use to connect to an external amp. I imagine this model works similarly, except you have to use the RCA output in the back.

That would amp the source material twice

"Looking at the back of the device, you'll see a single set of RCA jacks labeled with symbols for both input and output. This is because when you're using the USB input, the RCA jacks act as output from the ODAC. If you disconnect the USB, you can connect analog input from your favorite DAC straight to the O2."
If you want to connect directly to the DAC than you can connect to the RCA output on the back to bypass the amp.
