Can anyone say if this would be an upgrade to the Audioengine D1 DAC?
Not sure if I should join the drop on this one. If it matters, the headphones I'm using are the Fidelio X2s and the Sennheiser HD598s.

chris.ywThanks, I came to the same conclusion after some research. I'll be sticking with the Audioengine D1, which I found to be a significant upgrade to my onboard soundcard. I'm very happy with the DAC.

teainhaler77There are some portable DAC/amp combo that are worth looking into, such as Onkyo HA200 and Denon DA10. The first one is a 5102 based device currently sold for $165 USD in japan right now. The later is PCM1795 based and priced at $200 USD. I just picked up a DA10 from Kojima via Rakuten JP. Hopefully it won't be disappointing.
There are a couple of others in the same price range, Pioneer XP700, Teac P50, etc. I think this market is thriving since PHA-1 was introduced.
