high1ya what I'm saying is the original ODAC actually sounds better than the revision. almost the same but the first one is a bit more open and natural. Either way I'm using neither of them anymore, I've moved into the A game.

UzuzuI don't wanna argue with you
But Rev. B is Objectively Better
Of course you might feel original ODAC is better, because that is an personal feeling
I understand Psychological difference
But I can not accept ruin the facts and real factors.
Personal "Good" , "Bad" is not Real world "Good" , "Bad"
DACs are Like CPUs or GPUs, nobody say "this one lookin' nice to me, so this one is faster"
But by the Benchmark, Measuremeants, we can find out better one.

high1One thing I learn over the past few years is that you cannot associate personal experiences with those measurements. How can the measurement tell me if I am going to like the sound at all? No, they cannot. I had access to an old Northstar DAC32 and it turned out to be my favorite dac and I like it over my Fostex HP-A8, which has much better measured specs.
First hand experience is still important. But living in US and some other countries there are very little shops to audit these products. Thus people went online and start discussing based on 2nd hand information. That leads to one of the most difficult questions in audiophile circle: the sound you have never heard of. There are no good solution to this problem.

chris.ywOh God.......
Yes, it is. I agree
I EVEN HEARD NOISY RADIO WITH FULL OF SATISFACTION
also I'v heard very well controled listeningrooms sounds and studio's
But personal experience is not Real Good, Better, Bad Go get some over 1000bucks USB cable and feel digital orgasme Mentally better products provides better experience Even any audible difference
I can say my cheap shielded USB cable will make same sound As golden cable
well controled ABX test shows your real ability to listen https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABX_test

high1Sure but Objectivity doesn't have to mean in specs alone or even my own personal preference. It means what is going to sound best for the majority. The ODAC RevA DOES sound better because the majority of listeners being greater than an assumed 51 percent will say that they like the RevA sound more. Mostly because it's just very so slightly more open and that is more generally pleasing across a wider audience than not. Also RevA and RevB otherwise are so little in difference spec wise you're not going to be hearing extra "clarity" of either, so it's a battle really of soundstage/tonality in which I think if you and more than 51 percent of people would agree if A/B'ing the two units would say the RevA is better. Just my "objective" take on it subjectivity aside ;-).

high1I don't like USB for a ton of reasons. If you spend enough time studying you will know there are technical glitches that cause cable to play a part. Unrelated but It's 2015 and I still see many products don't even buffer USB signal thus causing clipping sometimes. The fancy USB receiver in my HP-A8 is simply defeated by an old school simple design that doesn't even go higher than 16/48 by Luxman. Something might looks great in technology but eventually inferior since we are looking at the wrong benchmark for better sound. It's easier to make a device that scores higher in measurement but more pleasing to listen to.
Industry won't bother to let you know technical details since it's their know-how in making big money. On the other hand, majority of the users aren't geeks and they won't bother about technical details. In the end creating a bigger topic is much better for them to make money, which is what Sony is doing these days.
Mental effects change over time and very inconsistent. What I listen to these days are very different from 5 years ago and I keep finding new ground. Even something I used to hate becomes a new favored.

UzuzuIn the old days someone told me that many entry level audiophile prefers beyerdynamics but few kept those cans for a long time. The reason is that beyer's sound signature would make people feel the "big difference" between their old crappy headphone. But as time goes by, many realized they don't like it.
