8/28/19 EDIT: My personal experience with these was so ridiculous that I have to give a 1 star review. I felt like I was going to lose these all the time. That issue may have been fixed now, however since they refused to replace old houses my 1 star review still stands. I have since sold my MD+ and own the JVC FDx1. Below is my MD+ review. At $200 with the cable issue fixed this is a great value.
Pros of MD+:
Decent Soundstage (not thin like my Flc8s), Good imaging, excellent fit, great bass extension.
These traits make it a great on the go (get a different cable for less Microphonics, but stock works for public transportation and stationary workspaces) critical listening iem while the Soundstage is just large enough for me to be lulled by it making this iem a great 'all-arounder'.
You are hearing an incredible amount of detail retrieval and space in this $299 iem. The lows, mids, and highs are all placed far apart enough to make you think you were listening to an over-ear HP.
Though i do listen to hip/hop and rap, I also do a good amount of jazz and classical listening which has been amazing, and while the MD+ reveals any poorly recorded/mastered bits of your music, the lifelike presentation that it creates on a drum kit, sax, guitar, vocals, and other acoustic instruments keeps me enthralled.
Disclaimer: all listening done through LG V20, macbook pro 2015, Magni 3/Modi Multibit w/JVC spiral dots (I got mediums but i wish i got one size smaller)
After trying to put up with listening on my V20 with 2.5 Ohm of output impedance, I must implore everyone to either get a <1 ohm amp or an IEMatch. I can't stand my V20 for these after my Rig starts performing at it's best. The mids are fatiguing and the bass is too bloated when the Output impedance is too high, it also starts to sound congested. These Iems are meant to present the sound effortlessly. With my Schiit Stack the mids are somewhat airy and quite satisfying. My Modi Multibit gets to show off it's punchy bass, so MD+ will definitely show you your Dac's strengths and weaknesses. The sound definitely gets a solid 4.5 stars from me, Just wish there was more soundstage.
P. S. I've also slept great with these in my ears
