Massdrop Plus Universal IEMs

They’re here! After a year of research and development, followed by months of prototyping, we’re excited to share the Massdrop Plus in-ear monitors with all of you. While it’s a universal IEM with removable ear tips, the Plus is the next best thing to a custom fit and far more affordable, too. The sound has Massdrop written all over it: it’s the first IEM we’ve tuned from the ground up.

We never expect a first prototype to hit it out of the park, so we have to admit we’re incredibly impressed with the sound of the first sample we received. There are still lots of details to iron out, but this is a promising first step toward landing the exact sound signature we set out to achieve.

For many audiophiles, custom in-ear monitors are the ultimate luxury. Custom IEMs are made specifically for you based on molds of your ears, so they fit like a dream, create a perfect seal, and take your music enjoyment to a whole new level. Because of all this, they can also be pretty pricey. With our next project, we’re looking to make this custom-quality fit a lot more affordable, so as many people get to experience it as possible. Our plan: an IEM whose shape is based on the average of thousands of individual impressions, but is technically still universal (so you won’t have to go through the trouble of having ear impressions made).
