Just joined the drop. Waiting with anticipation wondering if my Flc8s will be obseleted or a nice companion to these.
Okay. These are better than the flc8s on most tracks. The soundstage is wider, and the mids sound naturally elevated as opposed to the using the gold filter with flc8s to achieve a similar effect/frequency response. Flc8s sound thin in comparison.
MD+ also has more sparkle. Not sure if it is achieved by its reference tuning or is a feature alongside it's clarity, but it is definitely more enjoyable as an IEM for that reason. Bass is quite elevated, and I need to listen more to see if it's still boomy/bloomy or it's settled down since ive had it on all night.
As of right now I think i may be selling my flc8s.. This has been a great purchase!
Sorry for reviving an old comment, but do you have an update on the comparison between the FLC8S and the Plus. I'm in the market for some new IEM's and these two are at the top of my list. From what I've read it seems the Plus seem more technically capable but I'm concerned their bass boost will be too overbearing for me and sound unnatural or 'uneven'. The FLC8S, on the other hand, are also well regarded and have quite a lot of flexibility.
Hey, no worries. I just made another comparison on the head-fi thread. The problem with this comparison though is that there is an updated version of the flc8s out which i believe is the flc8n? I'm not sure because there is also a more entry level iem that's been released as well.
I've been listening to the MD+ near exclusively for a month and a half, I tried to put the Flc8s in to reacquaint myself, and I couldn't bear the small near nonexistent soundstage. Also using a filter to make the mids forward has mixed results because you lose the balanced sound that the MD+ tries to achieve and does fairly well.
In my opinion the MD+ outclasses the FLC8S, and i will be selling mine soon.
Sorry I dont know much about the new FLCs, my main gripe with the 8s was always that it with every improvement from the filters I lost something that I loved, and there was too much sibilance for it to be a good all rounder.
Bass on MD+ is full and not subtle at all, but I believe it still creates a 'balanced' sound. I listen to alot of hip-hop/rap so it's great in my opinion, but it took awhile to really embrace it. Initially I thought it was too much. Definitely more than the FLC8s.
Thanks for the swift reply! It seems like neither are exactly perfect for my tastes - if only the Plus had a more modest bass increase. I think I'll pick up the Plus and if their low end is too overbearing I can always EQ.
No problem! I hope you can eq to your liking. Currently riding a bus with them on so it was easy to type what I was hearing haha, good luck!
Haha wonderful timing. Thanks, I'll report back here when I make my purchase.
