Fellow massdroppers, help me out on this. I cannot decide whether I want to the MD+ or spurge and get the CA Andromeda. I listen to mainly EDM, so I like the fact that the MD+ has more bass. However I heard the CA Andromeda's treble is much better too. I just cannot decide...

unienginePersonally, I like them more than when I demoed the Andros. The Andros are just too cold/lean for my listening taste. Not to mention the ergonomics of the IEM themselves is somewhat iffy. While they do have lovely shimmer and a very holographic soundstage, unless those 2 things are absolutely needed for you, I think the MD+ is a much better buy especially for the cost. Mind you, the MD+ is picky with output impedance but not nearly as much as the Andro. Plus, the MD+ has some really good sub-bass rumble that surprises you and really adds something to my music genres that the Andro lacked. Note, I vastly prefer the Vega (oh so thick and dynamic sounding) over the Andro just for context.

uniengineI haven't heard the MD+ yet (these do look very intriguing though and I might splurge for a pair once I pay for my brand new CA Andromeda IEM's), but after owning some NuForce Primo 8 and EDC IEM's, as well as the G1 and G2 Westone UM Pro 30's, I am already Absolutely in LOVE with my new Andromedas! They sound great throughout the whole frequency spectrum, and don't have any annoying dips or spikes that I've heard so far. I'm using mine with a Linum G2 SuperBax MMCX Cable, and the sound is very lush and full, yet very detailed and clean, with awesome soundstage and imaging, but also being very fun sounding IMO. They're not analytical to the point that they're too dry and dull sounding, but for my 24bit high resolution FLAC Recordings I make myself of live concerts and shows (mainly jamband, hippie type music like Phish, as well as everything in between, like EDM and electronic style music), with very HQ Recording gear, I'm completely transformed back in time to the show, like I hopped in a time machine and was transported back in time!
These were my endgame IEM's, and now I'm so hooked on the CA IEM's, I'm looking at grabbing a pair of the CA Dorado hybrid IEM (one DD and 2x BA Drivers). I will admit that at first I was having trouble getting them to stay in and fit comfortably, but since I just got my Comply TX-400 tips with Waxguard, I am enjoying them VERY much all the way around, and I wouldn't NEED to buy ANYMORE IEM's for many years to come.
But I do like the hybrid design of the Dorado's and will probably grab a pair after I pay for the Andromedas, and I'm looking at grabbing a pair of the MD+ as well, just to round out my collection!
Like I said, I'm MAINLY listening to my own high resolution 24bit FLACs, and I couldn't be any happier with the Andromedas. They're everything that I was hoping for and MORE! So basically what I'm saying is, unless you plan on collecting a bunch of different IEM's, I'd just save up for what you REALLY want and buy them from the get go, rather than doing what I did and start with the $60 Nuforce EDC's, then the Primo 8's ($150), then 2x pairs of the Westone UM Pro 30's $250 for the G1 and $400 for the G2), just to end up at the Andromedas ($1,100 new) anyway, which I wanted to buy from the start. So now I'm using the Primo 8 for my Recording gear bag, and one pair of the Westone IEM's in my car full-time with a Dessicant Pod, and the other pair of them stay in my backpack for work. And then I keep the Andromedas at home mostly. But I could've saved hundreds of dollars in the end if I would've reached for the stars from the beginning. I love the Andromedas so much because I wanted the Absolute BEST resolution and details from my live recordings, as well as being fun sounding and having a good low-end that can thump when it calls for it, as well as great treble Extension to give it a bigger feeling soundwise, so I picked the perfect IEM's for my wants and needs, so figure out what is important to you in regards to the sound and go from there.
I also like that these are 100% made in the USA, just like my Andromedas are. That means a LOT to me, and is a huge reason I'll end up grabbing a pair of these eventually.
Best of luck with your IEM searching and I hope that you end up finding the right pair for you too!
