This review comes from a regular user I suppose, I don't consider myself an expert or Audiophile. I was really excited for this drop. Everyone seemed to love them, I received my package ahead of schedule so big thumbs up to massdrop for that. The package is certainly nice and the hard case it comes in is a great bonus. Now as far as sound these have more Bass than my AKG 712 but sound more muffled. Sound effects/music sounds much louder than voice/singer be it for movies or music. I would barely consider them an upgrade from say an an ATH50x or my V-Moda M100, I am not the only one who has this issue as there are recommended mod's to make vocals less muffled which I will be trying. Lastly the housing feels cheap in comparison to the previous mentioned headphones mostly plastic and thin metallic band. Due to the nature of the ear pads being oval in nature they get uncomfortable. I guess I'm buying more AKG! Even the 7xx feels much more comfortable and sturdier. I'll keep them around for modding and see if I can improve them and replace the housing itself. As far as source i'm using SMLS M8A Dac+Cavalli Hybrid Tube Amp or Mayflower O2 Amp+DAC or SMLS M8+Mayflower O2 Amp. Foobar with Flac/DSD files and lawlyoutube, I've even tried it with my turntable. All in all not a bad product if on a tight budget but for 115-175 more you can get yourself some 712's which are much better imo.
