These are really cheaply built phones. Thin metal and crusty feeling thin abs plastic. I had already bought dekoni earpads, glad i did bc the ones that came with felt like they were filled with the polyester fluff from a build a bear plushie. All of the productionb goes to the diaphragms. Which is fine, since that's the whole point of this poll is to gget that senn sound signature as cheap as possible. Yet i don't feel wowed by it. Maybe it's because I'm jaded by hifiman 4xx headphones. I tend to always use the hifemans over the senns. I tthink what people will really notice about these headphones is the wide soundstage, it feels deep. I'm no audiophile expert for describing the sound of equipment, but I do really enjoy songs with reverb with the sennheisers. People new to desk top amps and all these audiophile necessities like I was, won't be disappointed, open back designs are so much different and fun to get lost in. These are headphones you can get lost in, just meditate and feel the music. I think the hifiman 4xx are also very good alternatives, you can use those without an amp system, and are 40 dollars cheaper

I have the Hifiman 4xx and the HD58xx...I'd pick the 58x over the 4xx almost everytime I start listening to music. You DO need and DAC/AMP for these headphones if you want to know what it really sounds like. I thought the 58x was "meh" until I used a DAC/AMP. The highs are amazingly clear! It feels like you're in the studio with the band playing. Your 4xx will also sound even better if you had a DAC/amp to go along with it also as planars do need juice too even though the stats says its only needs 38 ohms. To be honest, the 4xx are harder to drive then the 58xx based on my personal experience. I'm currently using the EVGA Nu Audio dac/amp sound card by the way and I am planning on getting these HD6xx at some point (when I has more monies lol).

Was the HD6xx you bought made in Romania? I'm iffy now about buying these since they moved their manufacturing to Romania from Ireland.
