Ok, so I've had these for about a week now, and this is my attempt to review them. (Keep in mind I am in no way an audiophile)
Despite being made all out of plastic it still feels sturdy, it doesn't feel cheap in any way, and since I'm allergic to some types of metal this is just a big plus for me. The adjustment for the headband always stays in place once you fit it to your head, so you don't have to keep readjusting them all the time. There's not much more to say about the build quality. If you take good care of the headphones I can't imagine that anything would break on these.
The problem here for a lot of people seems to be the clamping force. And directly out the box I have to agree with this, but this is easily fixed. I widened them by putting them over my TV speakers over night. The clamping force is very comfortable now. The earpads feels good, not quite as comfortable as my previous pair (Qpad qh-1339, which is a Beyerdynamic DT770 with a microphone). The pads on the HD6XX are a bit stiffer but still comfortable. A problem I had with the QH-1339 was that after an hour or so I started to feel an uncomfortable pressure on top of my head. This is none existent on the HD6XX's. And since these are open back headphones, they breath really well so my ears doesn't get sweaty even after hours of continous use. Oh and I almost forgot. The inside of the earpads are big enough so that my ears doesn't touch anything when I wear them.
Wow! Once I start listening to some music I find it very hard to stop because they sound so good. The one word that comes to mind is "smooth". Vocals especially sounds so good with these. I can listen for hours without feeling any fatigue. A problem I had with my QH-1339 was sibilance and at times it could be really annoying. Thankfully I haven't noticed this problem at all with the HD6XX. The details these headphones can produce are just stunning. This also leads me to the imaging, which actually floored me. They are so accurate. It's so easy to hear where every sound comes from, which also makes them excellent for gaming. There's is without a doubt a lot more to be said about the sound quality of the HD6XX's but then I have to start talking about things I really don't have a good grasp on, so I think this will have to do.
Overall I'm beyond pleased with these headphones. I got them for $175+shipping, and I don't think any other headphones can compete with that price-performance ratio.
Would recommend to a friend.
