Great sound but comes with skull squashing and eardrum pain
This is my first audiophile experience and the sound is great, but the 6xx has come with a lot of unexpected problems. Main problem is that they cause my eardrums to feel tight and uncomfortable, almost painful. This may be listener fatigue I've heard about but it comes more or less instantly and doesn't really depend on the volume. I'm using an atom stack. I also have a Zen Can and what is really strange is that this eardrum discomfort is way more intense with the Zen Can. It's also really bizarre because the Can seems to give them some magic which seems to make them so much more pleasing to listen to as compare to the Atom Amp. It's a bit of a mystery as to why this happens but I did read some people can have a similar sensitivity with different kind of headphones such as planars. The clamp is also really tight which I don't usually mind but after the first week you seriously feel the pressure on your skull above the ears. Also the little sticker on the metal headband part managed to peel itself back when I adjusted the fit, which has left a patch of sticky residue. Anyway lots of little things that stop me from enjoying them but I do hope to keep them if these problems don't last. Edit: These seem to have left me with persistent soreness in my right ear especially, so onto ebay they go. Not going to mess about with my hearing.
