Didn't expect to be that much of an upgrade
I have been using Sony MDR V6 and Sennheiser HD 280 PRO for music production. Those are great for tracking, editing and checking mixes but they are not flat, especially low and high end on the Sonys. I see them as tools for working as opposed to listening enjoyment. I ordered the 6xx after upgrading my audio interface. The interface (Antelope Zen go) is supposedly better suited to high impedance headphones. It's one of those cases where I wasn't sure there would be much of a difference. Products are often hyped up on the internet and you often end up disappointed when getting your hands on the product at how subtle the difference actually is . Not so in this case! They offer a flat response, great imaging in the stereo field and precise rendering of details, which are essential for music production. But, what really surprised me is the overall feeling when you add all these qualities in. It's like being treated to a new experience. I find myself using them for pure listening pleasure, making them not only a tool for my job but also a treat for my leisure time.
