Probably the best headphones you can buy at $200
if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these. the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too. these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere

A Top-Notch Experience From Beginning To End!
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!

What are "open back headphones"?
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces. This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate. Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you. Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
What is the best amp (or amp/dac) to pair with the HD6XX?
They go well with my Modi/Magni Schiit stack

Best You Can Buy for 200 Bucks
Very scalable to power. OK with a phone, I guess. But put 'em on a headphone amp and they scale way past their price point. I finally broke down and bought these after seeing reviews for what seems like forever. Nice addition to my existing. I find that I prefer different headphones for different genres. These really fill a hole I didn't know I had.

I'm happy now
In Korea, I received it in one month. It was a tedious time waiting, but the 6xx headphones gave me great sound. I look forward to a fun musical life in the future.

HD 6XX TLDR
  • Very safe nice sound that could be used multiple kinds listening use
  • Moderately Comfortable but strong clamping force at first (probably for better seal for listening)
  • Requires some kind of amplifier to get the most sound out of it
  • Me personally it can sound a bit boring or underwhelming listening to certain songs but can play a variety of genre and some to greatest degree a sound could be heard.

Fantastic headphones - especially for newcomers
I was unfamiliar with headphones and, generally speaking, the audiophile hobby as a whole. These are fantastic headphones, especially for beginners, because it is so cheap and has fantastic audio quality. They are very breathable and comfortable. You can definitely wear these for hours and have no issue.

Amazing headphone for any price
Had my HD6XX more than 2 years now, every time I put this headphone on, I am amazed how good and enjoyable they are. Neutral, true to life sound is what make this one of the all time great. You can feel the emotion of the singer, the texture of different instruments, and the massive scale of movie soundtracks. I prefer the HD6XX headphone over the HD600, the HD600 in my opinion is too dry and lean sounding, and not enough bass authority. One important note about the HD6XX is that you do need a good headphone amplifier/AVR to get it to perform 90% or higher. Powering them with PC/Smartphone will provide about 60% of the performance.

Great daily drivers
Although I am not an audiophile myself, I always appreciate good sound. Got these to go along with a streaming setup and they work great with my Scarlett Solo. Provides a good baseline sound to work off of.

An incredible value
lol I'm literally here to buy another pair. The fiance and I don't have a lot of overlapping music taste, but I think some of that is because we don't listen to each other's music very closely. For a test, we used a headphone splitter and my record player (+ preamp) to listen to a few albums, and we had a really lovely time. Not to make this about something else, but can we all just take a second to remember how special and important it is to just listen to music, as a dedicated, singular activity like we did before the era of smartphone-driven 'multitasking' and endless, distracted media consumption? Anyway, she's moving in soon, and for a housewarming gift, I thought I'd get 'us' the upgrade of a second, matching set, so no one has to use the lesser pair of headphones while we spend the rest of our lives co-listening to albums together. I thought briefly about getting a pair of HD 600s (some of which were on sale refurbished for the cost of a pair of HD6XXs), but decided the more appropriate, romantic thing was to ensure we're hearing the same thing. I've seen her get lost using these cans before, and I know she'll be excited to have her own pair. What I'm saying is, you shouldn't just buy these: you should buy another pair for somebody you love. And a headphone splitting amp. Only criticism I'd level, since I need to be honest, is that if I don't set the headband forward a bit on my head, I get some pain after a while around where my right ear meets my jaw. I'm entirely sure that's a 'me' problem (and an asymmetrical one at that!) but it's worth pointing out, I guess, so it doesn't sound like I'm some paid shill.
