My HD6XX were faulty (right side louder than left side). I sent them to Sennheiser and they replaced them with a new pair of HD650. So FYI if you use the Sennheiser warranty, you might lose your limited edition 6XX.

That has to be a mistake on their side. I sincerely hope you didn't just roll over and accept it.

Other RMA units were replaced with 650s. Sennheiser doesn't have any stock of 6XX parts since they were only a limited run.

how can you tell if one side is louder than the other? I think sometimes I lose sound on the right side.

Was wondering it they had any stock to replace faulty units. This clears it up then, thanks.

Put the headphones on backwards and confirm your results

Indeed I tried them backwards, on different devices / amps, and compared them to other headphones, and the issue was consistent. There was no variation in how much louder the right side was and I didn't lose sound either. It didn't seem to be from a faulty cable either.

I have no complaints. The 650 are brilliant, and I basically got a new pair from Sennheiser for $199. But I understand others might not like forfeiting their 6XX.

I don't think that's normal. Might wanna check the cable connectors or get it RMA'd.
