HD600 definately needs a dedicated beefy amp, guess these does as well, at least a quality one
A mistake if you think they will work direct on your phone/pad, if thats purpose there's much better out there.
Pure marketing bs
I have used the HD650's- for years- connected to both my iPhone directly, and also an external amp (the Schit Asgard 2, at the moment).
These headphones sound superior (or about in-par) to my other headphones- straight out of an iPhone/iPad in a home environment. The B&W P5 I have sound a little richer from the phone-- but the same is true from the amp as well.
From a decent (powerful) amp, the HD650's take on that air of magically reproduced detail, soundstage, etc., that people rightfully revere these headphones for.
So, just to clear the BS up, the HD650/6XX will sound quite good straight from an iPhone (or a decent android) for casual listening. Of course, to get the full experience from the HD6XX you'll want a powerful dedicated amp (even the Schiit Magni 2 for $99 works well)... or whatever you're in to.
