It's still a good deal. It just depends on your patience for the product. I thought these weren't coming out for another year and I figured demand would make these impossible to get them then too. Think of the cup half full.
Sorry but I don't agree with you.
It's only 315$ on Amazon and in those 4-5 months prices might decrease.
When the price was 200, it was 57.5% higher on Amazon.
Right now at 250, it's 26% higher on Amazon.
Additionally, resale value of "Massdrop" headphones are not as good as the original ones.
Nonetheless, these are great headphone, I just think the price difference does not worth the wait.
good luck everyone.
Thank you for the coherent response that was fueled more by logic and not impulse.
It isn't for everyone, but one thing I'd say is that these headphones initially came out in 2003 and they have stuck around the 320$ price for quite some time. I don't think this will change except for a flash sale that may or may not happen.
As for the other comment, personally I think that these are more of a collector's item since they actually have a number inside them to show which one you have. Personally I think I'd prefer slightly cheaper plastic (and the color is better for my personal tastes anyways) to get that more "rare" or "exclusive" feeling when wearing them.
Again, not everyone thinks like me, but that's my personal feelings towards these.
Agreed. Although for me it wasn't the wait that was killer it was them sitting on my money while I wait. If they didn't charge until it shipped I would have joined this drop.
There will probably be a Black Friday deal, I think last year it was $270. Might be hard to get in on those deals, shrug. I dunno. Still contemplating getting this, just I already have too many headphones at this point.
I don't recall a specific source (and I'm on a mobile right now), but when the first drop went by I did a ton of research into why this is so cheap and there were lots of people who did reviews after receiving them saying the plastic felt lighter or slightly cheaper to cut costs some. The full product feels professional and not cheap at all, but a 1 to 1 comparison had a lot of people bringing it up. It's just what I have heard so it could be incorrect since I don't own them yet or the 650s.
Yeah I feel you there. Luckily I was prepared for this anyways and it will feel like a free Christmas present to myself by the time the holidays come by so that's kind of cool haha
This is my biggest jump. I have heard great headphones before and my Sennheiser 558's used to be amazing to me. They still sound wonderful, but I can't even compare the difference when I listened on the others. Plus I already have two different DAC's so that isn't an issue for me.
If I didn't already have other headphones in the same class or better, I would probably have been glad for this too. Although to wait 6 months for them in that case might have made it even worse, I dunno.
Anyway, good luck. I do hope you do enjoy it. I'm on the fence of adding them, I demoed HD650 before and did like them. I might be more likely to grab either an HD800 or LCD-3 for my next set, as a clear step-up.
