CokemanWhatever is more versatile. $800 or less but I guess I can go more if it's worth it.

UltramabiJust get a Schiit Jotunheim with the DAC included for $500. That will more than do, but you don’t really need to spend that much.

CokemanDo you by any chance know if the magni2 uber is worth the extra money than the non uber version? Thinking about getting modi multibit with one of the magni's

UltramabiWell those are a good entry level setup. But personally since you said you have $800 I would just get the Jotunheim for $500 with the DAC included. It is a better amp and better dac than both the modi and magi 2. It is about the only dac/amp you will ever need unless you want to get a tube amp. Also the Jotunheim has balanced output which sounds incredible.

UltramabiIf you're spending $800, you should go with the audio-gd NFB-28.38, It should be better than the Jotunheim by quite a bit. If I were you I'd do a little more research and find what's best for you, but you can't go wrong with the Jotunheim or the NFB 28.38. Just make sure you get some balanced cables (I'm not sure if balanced cables are included with the 6xxs), you can find some good ones here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/fanmusic-c6-cables-for-hd6xx-headphones-andmore?mode=guest_open/.

briank6932Yeah true that is a better AMP, but come on the Jotunheim is literally more AMP then you will ever need. Just save a few bucks.

CokemanNot the AMP, the DAC is far better on the NFB 28.38. The Jot isn't a perfect AMP either, far from it, if he has the budget honestly why not?

briank6932Ty for your reply, as the headphones will come in 6 months, do you know a viable upgrade option I can get switch to by then or do you think the NFB will be more than enough for years to come?

UltramabiThe NFB 28.38 is more than viable, they should be enough for decades (maybe even a century), they can power literally anything with some room to spare, the Jotunheim is great as well, just not quite as good as the NFB 28.38s, the decked out NFB 28.38 has the best DAC you can possibly purchase (on paper). If you're going to purchase the NFB 28.38 make sure to purchase the version with the ES9038 Pro and TCXO will help out for $20 as well. The NFB 28.38s are also at a pretty good price atm so I would pick them up soon if I were you
The only annoyance is that the purchasing process is a little bit of a hassle and it may also seem pretty untrustworthy, but they have a great reputation and I haven't heard of anyone not receiving their purchase. You must send them an email to purchase their items and you must give them your paypal email. I've personally never purchased anything from Audio-gd, but they have all the instructions on their website: http://audio-gd.com.
If you plan on purchasing the NFB 28.38, you should most definitely use a SPDIF cable to your PC (if you have one on your PC) and its balanced output (which is where the balanced cable I linked above comes in).
