Price not bad. But headphones... if you'd make 7xx based on much clearer, comfortable, punchier, and overall better HD700 priced as 299 that would be the best drop ever made. And if you make them w already included Anax mod and modified earpads(fully cloth, w/o pleather inside) it would work for 399.

escknxHD700 are not great headphones, it's the worst parts of the HD650 and HD800 combined. I don't know what Sennheiser was thinking. HD6XX and K7XX are both much better products.

JackulaNext time try good amp w 700s ;) 650 are muffled and extremely uncomfortable compared to 700, because or their clamping force. I owe 558. 650, 700 and regular 800(never tried 800 S). Stock 700 has some elevated treble, but after Anax mod it calms down, and after internal pads pleather mod its the best headphones I have. 800 are too bright even with dark amp, not musical at all, not fun to listen, tho very clear and transparent, cool for gaming w that soundstage. I get what you talking about, that was my initial impression on 700s. But because of their unparalleled comfort I decided to give em 2nd try, and now its the best. Even w pretty bright Burson Conductor ESS9018. With Woo WA7 its even better.

escknxI love my HD700s. I own the HD800S and the Utopia’s and I still find myself often using the HD700s, especially for extended listening and gaming sessions because of their incredible comfort. They have a better soundstage than the utopias and better bass response than the HD800S. I like the U shaped curve of the HD700 and I find the neutrality of the 650s (sold my pair) and utopias a little boring sometimes honestly. I wish it were easier for people to find a place to demo these headphones because I bet a lot of people here would actually prefer the sound signature of the HD700s over the 650s.

CokemanThat's a bold statement :D Tho, Ignorance is bliss.
Yes, HD700 needs tune up, that's a shame that Sennheiser couldn't fix it with 700S. But 700 phones uses far more advanced drivers that are capable of.
Biggest issue w 700 treble for many people is internal earpad pleather, that reflects HF.(BTW regular 800 does not have that issue). dampening of that pleather and simple Anax mod transform that headphones to extremely satisfying device(for lazy folks there are ready to install HD700 Mod Kit on modhouseaudio) . They're much more clear and musical than 650s. Even not A/Bing average people feel day and night difference. And its 40mm driver can produce very solid bass, not like Fostex X00, but damn it can be very close with proper EQ. Its comfort+sounstage are priceless. 800 are clearer with greater soundstage, but they're heavier, not that comfy and too analytical, not for music listening, IMO. And damn, 700s can be picked now used for around 300usd and new for 470. But to me they worth 2 times more. I'd buy em any time for 1000, just because nothing else on a market can offer similar comfort + listening experience. And yea this is perfect gaming headset w modmic as well. For comparison I owe 558, 650, 700 and regular 800, Fostex X00, TH900, EMU Teak, Sony Z700 and Z1R(sold few days ago), Monoprice 1060.
