Hi Everyone - I have a quick update on the HD 6XX shipment. As of today over 10,400 headphones have shipped from the June 25-30 drop (this is about 93% of the drop). The remaining orders should leave our warehouse by the end of next week.
Once these units ship, we will begin to prep the next drop for shipment (members who joined drop from 7/10-7/31). This drop will also ship out in groups, and the first batch is on it’s way to our warehouse from Sennheiser.
We’re excited to continue to ship these headphones out ahead of the estimated ship date, and I will continue to provide an update each week with the overall shipping status. Thank you all for your patience!!

We have a quick update on the shipping status of the HD 6XX. The latest batch arrived at the end of last week, and as of this morning over 7,000 headphones have shipped.
We are expecting the next batch from Sennheiser to arrive early next week. Once the shipment arrives it will go through a quality control check and start shipping shortly after.
There have been a handful of questions around how we determine shipping order. I wanted to assure everyone that we do our best to ship in order of when you joined the drop. We send thousand of orders to the warehouse floor at a time, and while there may be a slight shuffling of order due to the way orders are packed and labeled, all orders in the same batch will ship within a few days of one another.

CokemanAssuming if they do it in order placement, it’ll all get shipped out in batches regardless. You can package one at a time and ship it to USPS but that’s too inconvenient, so they’ll rack up maybe 500-1000 batches and ship it to USPS or simply just call a USPS to pick up the whole 5,000 batch with their delivery vehicle.
AveryCI bought mine on the 26th so I was really hoping to be in one of the early batches, I did have to back at the higher price to get that though.
Really can't wait to get them, not that I need any more cans.
AveryCThanks for the update (and I did get the email as well). While it's certainly very good news, it does mean that the custom cable I just ordered for the 6XX probably won't be here when I get the cans. I ordered from a one man operation who made me a similar beautiful braided cable for my HD700s. It sounds a bit better than the stock cables, is a better length for me (4 feet, even 6 feet is uncomfortably long for my setup), but orders take 2-6 weeks to ship. I figured I still had almost two months.
You might need to contact Massdrop support if you're not receiving these e-mails. I stopped receiving them and when I contacted support they said a spam complaint was lodged against Massdrop by my e-mail so they stopped sending e-mails. I think I accidentally fat-fingered the Spam button instead of the Delete button.
MarloweI'm guessing you're buying a cable from Ursine? If it's not too much trouble, can you take some pics of the cable when you get it? I'm interested in buying a cable as well but I don't know what some of the options for splitters/amp termination looks like.
AveryCIs there any sort of reference as to what constitutes a 'batch' or whether the orders will be shipped in order of purchase? Regardless I'm quite pleased to hear they're ahead of schedule!

AveryCAwesome news. I bought mine on the 29th. Actually, by accident at the time. I would have since picked them up later or in one of the follow-up drops, but originally wasn't sure if I wanted them or not. Joined the drop, got busy with work, drop completed and I got charged and figured for $200 I could do a lot worse, let alone not any better. Then I started getting excited about these and following their progress, and I'm really happy to be in the first group!
JP_massdropWhen the price dropped, your total should have automatically updated so that you were only charged the lower price at the conclusion of the drop. I joined the drop the same day you did, so I was on board at $249.99. But because of the price drop, they only charged me for the reduced price.
Perhaps you knew that already, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

JP_massdropAll the people who receive them early committed at a price of $250, but then Massdrop reduced the price to $200 so we paid the same as everyone else, $200.

My previous Massdrop was for an Infinity ErgoDox which shipped two months behind schedule, so having the Sennheiser shipping estimate go so far in the opposite direction is certainly a welcome change.
CokemanI'm going to assume you've been here a while from your 790+ likes. You know if they vaguely state that its arriving in batches its probably not going to be based on when you purchased it because all the units arrived at once to their warehouse. I remember from the blue bag drops that it didn't matter when you purchased it because some would get it and some would still be waiting on a tracking number. Even if you joined the drop earlier. I think its based around location (who is closest) or which location has a higher amount of people that need to get a shipment (giving shipping priority), but this is just my assumption.
SarijoenHAHA, I ordered on the 25th as well! we are definitely a minority... let's just hope the 25th counts as between the 26th and 30th [it does count]. We have been waiting for almost a year for our pair of headphones (since we pressed buy on the first drop last year -and most likely have purchased another pair of cans in the mean time).

CharlesHenryVIIIYou don't need him to answer that. I've participated in several drops and every single one, the moment the label gets made, Massdrop updates the transaction on your "My Transactions" page with a tracking number. You also receive an email a little bit after that.

I_Need_MoneyI'm assuming they are shipping them in lots, so if you live in New Zealand like me it is unlikely that you will get them super early, as they will make sure that their shipping is as cost effective for Massdrop as possible. Still haven't got mine yet, but hopefully they will ship soon.

Dmt37Even if you get the shipping notification, these are still gonna be shipped in batches. It is not like Fedex/DHL is gonna come over to the warehouse 5000 times to pick up 5000 shipment. And Fedex/DHL is not gonna go over to the warehouse and wait. They are probably informed of the huge shipment and wait for all the necessary paperwork to be up before bringing a huge truck to pick these up! I think the mental image you people are getting is that the item is on the move immediately, you know like how people send messages on crows/pigeon in Game of Thrones. Take the bird out of the cage, hook your headset on the legs and fly!
Even if you are the last to receive the shipping notification, you are probably together with the last 500.

That would be true if all 5000 users from the first batch are constantly active on Massdrop discussion. People have other things to do than to constantly come here to post screenshots of shipping updates. Also, isn't it more probable that most people are just happy that they'll get it 2 months before the original agreed upon shipping date than to complain about it being late a few days?

Dmt37On top of what @Jisheng said. If you google "Start of the week" you will get this " Starts Monday or Sunday. According to international standard ISO 8601, Monday is the first day of the week. It is followed by Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday is the 7th and final day. " quoted from https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/days/.
As a regular working adult who work from Monday to Friday. I understand that most people think that the "middle of the week" means it is Wednesday. But if the start of the week is Monday and end of the week is Sunday, that would make the middle of the week "Wednesday, Thursday and Friday". So let's just accept that Massdrop did indeed start shipment on the "middle of the week", which is Friday based on ISO standard.
And as quoted from the original post "They are going through a quality control check and we expect them to start shipping out in the middle of next week. " It did say they are gonna start shipping and did not say that all of them will be out on said date. And also "expect" is not a "certainty" so I would accept that everything is going well and as informed since a few of them came out and commented that they received shipping information. We are also aware that Massdrop are prone to error. But I hope you agree that sending out 5000 items is no easy feat. There are loads of information which include sensitive information so it is not gonna be just "copy and paste".
(Not directed at anyone specifically) As for those that goes like "I am the first to order so I have to be the first to get". Why not start a drop and be the only one to order and see if you get anything in the end. The only reason this worked was because you were one of the 10,000+ people and not that you are the only one. I actually think it is more fair to ship randomly than first come first serve basis.
Lastly. This may be a huge thing and I am extremely excited about it too but do remember that this is not the only thing that is sold and shipped here. Let's be considerate and think about other drops (that you do not care about at all) that are working to get shipped right now too.

When I say I expect something to be done for a customer by a certain date, at the first point I realize I will be unable to do so I say something. It isn't the extra days I care about (I was expecting december afterall) it's the lack of transparency and communication.

Dmt37I don't think there are any lack of transparency or communication. Massdrop said they will start shipping on said day. So the next update I would expect would be an update that says all of the first batch are shipped and when the next batch is expected to arrive.
They are not gonna update the numbers everyday like 50 are shipped today, 122 are shipped today, 230 are shipped today, at least I don't think they have the habit of doing that. If these 1 or 2 people happen to be the kind that do not want to waste a single effort to post to informed that they received tracking information, many may assumed that "non of the headset are being shipped at all" which is not true but would spiral into a huge rage(I can totally see that happening). There are even someone who ask for a picture of the shipping notification (politely), but he is probably just asking for a proof.
Just chill. As the saying goes, no news is good news. I rather things stay quite than to hear that something went wrong.

YakovI never once said anything until they gave an update implying they would ship by now and they haven't. I didn't give a damn when I expected them at Christmas and wouldn't have unless the 18th ship date came and went with no update as to what went wrong and how they intend to proceed.

Charles-IIIYeah going from the 215 you will love it. The Magni 3 definitely is a great amp as well, i tried my old M50X's and they definitely sound more refined than when i use them at work through the Origen+.

Why is there no update?” while in fact things are moving the exact same way as things are now. Or would you rather they hold back all 5000 units ready to ship before posting and shipped immediately. Where again, things will move exactly the way it is. You are just experiencing the same thing in a different perspective. As to how they determined who to ship first... do they even need to explain. As I said in my previous post. The fact that this drop worked is because of you and me and the other 10 thousands of people. Just because I am sleeping while the drop start doesn’t means I don’t deserve it as much as you who click immediately. AveryCI ordered on the 25th, and I was in the first 200 (because I was a victim of the website congestion on the first drop). And no shipping notification yet! Quite upsetting. I thought I would be in the first batch "in the middle of next week".
alpovsI was early the 26th and no notification for me either. I hope their notification system is having problems and we both actually have a shipment on the way. If not then somewhere along the line something else got messed up. Either way additional communication would be much appreciated.
YakovThat's true, but it's also true that Massdrop works weekdays. The fact that Cambo happened to post on the weekend doesn't invalidate the fact that a first-minute pre-order didn't get a shipping notification on any of the work days prior to this weekend. Just because Cambo happened to post on the weekend doesn't mean that Cambo was expecting shipping to update on the weekend.
AveryCIt's great MD is able to get these things out so much earlier than expected (or is anticipating such, at least), but the continued lack of communication really puts a damper on everything. When the "middle of next week" came and went, it would have been nice to see a follow-up as to whether or not orders were actually being shipped out, etc.—especially considering they made specific reference to people who joined the drop between June 25 and June 30, which effectively got everyone's attention and raised the bar of expectations.
Naturally, MD is by no means required to do this, but I think we can all agree that good communication is enough to separate an okay service that you'll probably continue to use from a great service that you'd definitely continue to use and would happily recommend to friends and relatives.
KlasodethFrom my nearly 4 years of experience on Massdrop, the batch that gets shipped first is totally unrelated to those whom joined earliest and is too unrelated to which participant # a person is given after joining. (With the exception of early-bird bonus for custom launch-day products with a serial# below a certain threshold, though even that too is random) Keep in mind, the items exchange hands more than once. Massdrop has their own warehouse team, which I presume are given separate assigned stacks of delivery orders, A, B, C, etc, and it comes down to who finishes their assignment first. (I worked for a small T-Shirt company many years back, and this was my experience.)
Then those orders are forwarded to a shipping warehouse where they're sorted yet again. The carriers hold no bias to who was first in line, a box is a box.
I do agree a lack of communication is worrisome but, come on... this is Massdrop. Unless you're apart of the Keyboard community, there are hardly any comms. Everyone's best bet is Online Support.

This is one of Massdrop's biggest shipments to date. Be patient and come to terms with Massdrop's lack of communication on the discussion page. It's nothing new and it is frustrating for those with the ability to type as seen on most drops. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
AveryCHow about those bought in October? If those bought through end of June are currently estimated as shipping out Dec 18, then will the Dec 20 estimated ship date on my Transactions page be wildly inaccurate? Definitely understand first in first to get theirs.
Dmt37Heh, yea, true. Well, here's hoping it'll be shipped about then. Might be later given all of the holiday shipping going on around then. I'm not in a rush...but at the same time I do want it in a fairly timely fashion. We'll see. That's usually the worst part of Massdrop, is the waiting. Although the Massdrop Made do tend to have nice tweaks and extra features on something you'll be using for years, so it works out just fine.

Cokeman They updated the top comment saying 1500 of them have been shipped of the first 5000. Read that for more information. I ordered within the first minute (first hundred or so orders) and I received a shipping notification 6 hours ago. Your order will be prepared in the coming days.

YakovThe point of my post was to address your assumption that Cambo was somehow expecting Massdrop to operate on the weekends. As someone who pre-ordered the Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2, plus closely followed the release drama of CV1, I am quite familiar with delays, communication issues, and products being shipped "out of order". I've also experienced that sort of thing with Massdrop already, with my Infinity ErgoDox being delayed two months due to a production error that resulted in many people not getting properly paired circuit boards. If I understand correctly, that's still an ongoing issue for those people.
Personally, I'm thrilled that there's a strong chance at getting my headphones almost two months ahead of schedule. If that doesn't work out, so be it. After all, I was originally expecting December, and I didn't complain at all about the delays on my keyboard. I understand the limitations of "on demand" manufacturing, and am just happy that the keyboard I bought was everything I hoped it would be. The delay didn't bother me at all, and while I'm eager to try out my headphones, it's not the end of the world if they don't show up early or even on time. As long as any delays aren't too excessive (for me a two-month delay was not excessive) and the product is as advertised, I will be quite happy.
But just because I'm fine with waiting doesn't mean that I expect everyone else to be equally patient. If people want to try to make sense out of the shipping process, all I ask is that they avoid being hostile. I'm certainly not going to complain if people are willing to share info in the process, as Cambo did by sharing order info. But I will argue against a claim I feel was based on an erroneous assumption, as I believe your response to Cambo was. If you want to tell people to be patient, that's perfectly fine--even if it's one hell of an uphill battle. Just keep in mind that people talking about their orders does not automatically equal impatience. Everyone in here ordered headphones with a six-month lead time, so there's at least some demonstrated ability and willingness to wait.
Dmt37I was told 7,500 from someone else here, but I could be wrong, I remember it being around 4,000 when I got home from my exam on the first day, the 26th, That was before the price drop, so, I would imagine it would be over 5,000...
CokemanIf I am not mistaken, the drop started at 249$ free shipping for 7500 units (1 per person). We were given an update before hitting 5000 joins on the drop: up to 3 headphones per person and 199$ at 5000 sold with 14.99$ for the added international shipping possibilities.
Then on the 28th, the drop was extended until the 30th with added availability to 11500 units at the same price. I am not sure how many were sold (I believe all of the 11500) but I believe the 7500 number is mistaken; check full discussion sorted by top comments.
I joined on the 25th and still have not heard anything about shipping or tracking, I am hoping it is just longer for them to update an international purchase with shipping and tracking (Canada). Hang in there all, stay positive.

buchiyeI am not sure how they handle the batches logistically, but I am from central EU and I did order them on 25th adding another pair they day they allowed us to. So it might indeed be in the order you purchased it, but I am not sure.

bloodhawkNo, but those who ordered within the first 2 days thought they were paying $250 because that was the lowest price. Once Massdrop got the huge backlash and the sales numbers sucked, then they dropped the lowest price down to $200.

Well, I didn't get a dispatch email from MassDrop but I have just received an email from Customs Clearance Ltd, I was expecting import charges but I was hoping to get lucky and avoid them as it does happens when I import sometimes.
I'm in the UK, for anybody else in the UK who ordered this is the breakdown of charges I was billed for.

I ordered the 29th, and haven't received a shipping notification yet, but definitely think those who ordered before me should get theirs shipped out before me (as happy as I would have been if I got the seemingly random lottery of shipping they're doing now). How difficult is it for them to sort orders by the transaction's timestamp and print labels in that order?

This is the first time I've ordered a custom product from Massdrop and it be far ahead of schedule. I believe I joined the drop when it was extended to 11,000, so I may still have to wait until December.

YakovI actually like that idea. Like you, I was fine waiting until December. It is a little frustrating now that they said my order, since it falls into the early range, is in this batch of shipments and I have no idea when they anticipate to have those orders fully shipped by. Would be nice to just know what's the latest I could possibly receive a tracking number, since knowing they started last week doesn't give me much information to go on with regards to that.
But back to your idea, an express fee isn't a bad idea at all. Massdrop said the end of December, and if you want yours ~2 months early and you're willing to pay something to be part of that pool of people, why not? If anything, it keeps it fair to those who don't pay for it because they're still receiving their pair by the original ship date and they know everyone receiving before them paid extra money to go first. The system now is definitely frustrating for those who ordered on t he 25th-26th; If I had ordered that early, I'd definitely be peeved that people who ordered late towards the 30th received theirs before me.
YakovAre you serious? How can you say that when Massdrop themselves said they're shipping orders that were made between the 26th-30th first? Sure, if you want to get technical, nobody was charged until the later date and as far as a credit card company is concerned, that's the transaction date. But considering Massdrop tracks the day you join the drop as your transaction date, and that data is readily available to them in their database, again it would not be difficult for them to just sort "orders" by that.

NateBNICE setup man. Currently im rocking the Magni 3 + Bifrost/Origen+/Modi2 Uber, depending on where im at.
Definitely look into a better DAC though!
NateBAt this point for the HD6XX at least, i would maybe get something slightly better. The Origen+ is great as a pre out, but if you use it as a dedicated audio out, it is super annoying to keep the volume knob past the 50% mark to avoid channel imbalance. Other than that though, its perfect!
The HD6XX are pretty power hungry though.
bloodhawkEither the Jotunheim (would get a balanced cable to use this equipment) or like you, the Magni 3/Modi 2 Uber for the Schiit, but with the holidays coming up and having four grandchildren (one also with a birthday coming up), I will have to wait on these purchases.
NateBJot would be a good choice depending on your taste... i personally found it a tad too bright when i tried it with the HD800 tbh. But im really sensitive to the high end of the audio spectrum.

I am in eastern Canada and the package was noted at Shipped with DHL a couple of days after the packaging. It is entirely possible that it is awaiting shipping. It should be noted that you, and all those who joined at the latest the 30th, will receive shipment before December 18 as noted in the initial post of the thread.

Descay90It's hard to tell since Massdrop isn't necessarily shipping in order of who joined the drop first. I can't tell you why they can't import their transactions data into Excel or any other statistical software and sort it by date but they have said that their list is pretty much random. My transaction was on June 28 and I've yet to get my shipping label or any notifications so all we can really do is wait.

Most people who had ordered on 29th are getting their stuff sooner than some people who did on 28th or earlier, but dont worry because the 1st batch of headphones which includes headphones ordered from 25-30th june has already been shipped and the next batch is yet to arrive,all u guys are going to get ur shipping confirmation soon. The delay is mostly due courier issues or may be just because their are too many people on this drop and massdrop has to do everything to its best from the begining till the end of this drop.

That's the SmartPost difference. Hopefully you get them by the estimated date. I've had some bad experiences with SmartPost (I think everybody whose ordered a fair amount of stuff online and used them a few times has), but I'm hoping my headphones don't take longer than the entire week to arrive. I ordered on the 29th, got my shipping notification today (Monday), no estimated arrival date just yet but Edison NJ to South FL isn't too bad.

egoonYou can tell the batch based on your order date. If you ordered in June you are in the first, July you are in the second, and October you are in the 3rd.

ampairThat is also possible, I do expect some long customs formalities upon arrival. Romania, this is my first order on Massdrop. I'm not sure of course when will I get my hands on them, but so far so good. With non-EU deliveries the intervals are very loose, so far I've experienced everything between 7 weeks from US via state/national post services vs. 8 days from China via DHL (standard service).

CokemanMy set is like the one buchiye posted. It has a definite blue color to it, identical to the picture. The only way I can get them to look black is to have them in a room with lighting that's so dim I have trouble reading the Sennheiser name on the headband. If I shine my flashlight on it, I can readily detect the blue color, even using the lowest brightness setting on my flashlight (1 lumen, which is dimmer than many keychain flashlights). At 70 lumens, the blue is about as vivid as seen in the picture.
But I don't care the slightest bit. If it hadn't been for the above posts, it would not have occurred to me to scrutinize the color. I bought them for the sound quality, not for the color of the plastic, and in the sound department they have definitely exceeded my expectations! Just plugging them into my sound card and listening to whatever lossy .MP3 files I happen to have, I'm already noticing a significant improvement in sound quality. I'm looking forward to hearing what they sound like with a proper amp and lossless audio files.

redzero36I ordered on 29th and they're on the way, left US on 6th November, crossed the ocean and the last update I received this morning from DHL is "The shipment will be transported to the destination country and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization" - which is the national post service and of course their servers are currently down so I can't check tracking as-of :)) Chapeau for DHL, they moved very quickly, but I would've so much preferred not to hand them over to the national post black hole.

So I am thinking first week of december by the latest, maybe before thanksgiving though.

KeeferIf I were you I would still go by the expected date listed in the original product page - it is probably not likely that all orders will be shipped ahead of schedule so it is probably best if you just set your expectations appropriately - no need to be bummed that they didnt come in early haha

YakovHmm the pace of shipping slowed down considerably I wonder why. Maybe the whole new batch of 13k headphones had to go through QC and so it took a bit longer before they could actually start shipping. I ordered mine 13th October so I hope I'll get them in time for Christmas.

jisforjoshThat would likely have created madness as people suddenly started receiving theirs and everyone else would become frantic wondering when they would receive theirs. Giving a specific purchaser range and a period of when they would all ship out by is definitely a better way of handling, although the way they did it could be improved if they gave a sort of range of when all the original batch would have shipped by.
kouki.monsterThats what I meant. Assuming it was 7500 being delivered between 25-30, there was 5500 from the first batch roughly (5000 purchased + extras for warranty, reviews, giveaways and promotions etc) as far as I know. Then it's just simple math after that.

AveryCWell I was expecting these in late December or early January but I got them yesterday (16/Nov/17). Which is BIG +, on top of it they are as expected. After a while, once they are broken-in, I'm sure they will be a delight. I can now put my HiFiMan's HE400i aside on a well deserved rest! ;)

dna123I purchased mine July 15th and received an email from massdrop today that if I wanted to change my shipping address, I would need to do so before Sunday the 19th. Not sure if that helps, but I interpreted this to mean massdrop is finishing the June shipments and is beginning the July ones.

So, purchase date was June 29th, parcel delivered via DHL on November 6th, arrived in Germany on November 9th, arrived in Romania on 13th and ready to be picked up since 16th in the afternoon. Due to import procedures imposed by the national post office, I will not be able to get them until 23rd, but hey, they're here! I'll have to pay at the office 19% VAT and around 2% customs, if my TARIC association was correct.

AveryCGot mine Yesterday. They shipped a week ago but they were sent through FedEx Smartpost which took 10 days to get here in the west coast. Good headphones but damn, why send such expensive products over FedEx Smartpost? Should have went FedEx ground instead.

FarkoI second this. I didn't want to spend the money on a DAC, personally, since my computer puts out no static or interference. I have a pretty solid sound card. So I went with just the JDS Labs O2 Amp, and it's a wonderful amp. I absolutely love it, and you can't really beat the price. I went with some B-Stock model, paid $99, and it's absolutely amazing for the price. I didn't want to spend more on a DAC/AMP than I did on the headphones. But I'm sure as I go further down the audiophile rabbithole my next purchase will either be a tube amp or a DAC, just for the small boost in quality a dedicated DAC provides. My research indicated that the DAC is probably the least important component, unless you're getting really bad interference from your line level source. Maybe anywhere from 5-10% of the overall audio quality. The rest is tied up in the cans themselves, the amp, and the quality of the audio files (I downloaded a bunch of FLAC files before my headphones came in for this purpose).
By the way, I'd wholeheartedly recommend you go with JDS and not Massdrop. It's not that Massdrop doesn't make some high quality products, we all know they do (look at the HD6XXs many have us received already). JDS just allows you to customize it for little or no money (change ports, move them around, etc.). Plus you can get it for a steal with their B-Stock, which in my case was a very tiny scruff mark on the side I can't even see. Two thumbs up from me!
JmunandarAh man, I'm sorry to hear that. I'd be fuming, as I am sure you are. Contact support via your transactions page. I did the same about 2-3 weeks after these started shipping because I was supposed to be in the first batch as well. Be warned, it took them almost a week to reply but that's because I have no doubt they've been inundated by support requests over this. That said, they were able to tell me that mine had already been packed and was just awaiting shipping, which is a step in the fulfillment process they don't update you on normally on the transaction page. Hopefully this helps you a bit.
To everyone else, I was 50/50 on posting this because I didn't want Massdrop support to get bogged down in requests over nothing. So if Massdrop hasn't said yours is expected to be shipped yet, or people around your order date haven't started receiving shipping notifications yet, do all of us a favor and don't contact support. If we abuse it, it'll be more likely that it'll be more difficult to get a response from them because we'll all sound like a bunch of assholes just angry we didn't get lucky and get our headphones first. Thanks. :)
kmathieu2220The problem is people that ordered them over a month later than me got them first which doesn't feel right to me at all. It can't be that hard to sort the list of buyers by the date and ship them accordingly. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I received an email back basically saying "the next batch is on the way, be happy we are ahead of Dec 18th". I was actually fine with that up until I just read that August joiners are having theirs shipped. Now I think it's rediculous I received that answe and find it to be a little condescending.
I understand having orders go out randomly within reason (500 seems generous and fair) but a month in the difference of order seems insane.

I have had a few bad experiences with them as well. Luckily most of the companies they work with have pretty cool vendors that are willing to work with you if you have issues with an order beyond it being damaged in shipping or defective. I can't believe their attitude about this. It's their own damn fault to begin with!
FrankDrebinWhich can be a big drawback if like me you end up with issues. My NFB-15.32 years ago didn't want to work on USB. I tried troubleshooting things with Kingwa's help through emails, but we couldn't fix the problem, so I had to send it back. Because anything but USPS cost nearly half of the cost of the device itself(based on estimates given) and Audio-GD only cover up to the original shipping cost, I went with USPS. Of course that was a mistake as it never made it there and took months for it to make it back to me in the box which looked like they had fun kicking it around. After that I gave up and switched to optical, and just a round 3 years of ownership it just shit the bed on me. That's when I gave up on anything expensive from China that I may want warranty service for.

FrankDrebinYeah, that experience was why I went with a Schiit Modibit and Magni 2 Uber. Sure it's only a 2 year warranty, but it's also in the US and they do offer repairs out of warranty that they claim cost on average around $30...er I guess I could have sworn that's what they used to say or I read somewhere, now it seems to say start at $30 for smaller amps and DACs. Either way shipping will be plenty reasonable, and maybe I can save a little by not sending the heavy wall warts with it(assuming they don't end up being the problem). I also just like the way they look for lower priced products, not the same usual black box that say every single O2 is in.
I have to imagine though that my 3 years or so was just bad luck, because otherwise I'd really not expect audio-gd to be so popular in the audiophile headphone community. Mine was also a pretty early .32 version of the NFB-15 and I think at a later point they added vents similar to the NFB-11.

Whenever someone complains that they "deserved" a earlier ship date, massdrop should move their date back a day. That or maybe massdrop should never ship orders early again even if they can.

For the EU orders, the TARIC code is 8518309590 and the dues are (215 $ +1% customs) + VAT 19% = 258,4 $ (or a bit more if your VAT is higher)

What makes me angry is italian postal service, the package arrived 10 november in italy but customs still holds the package. Also its an express package so its meant to be "fast" ... God Italy, wish i had to money to leave this damn country
I_dun_goofedEven if the goods are manufactured in EU, VAT would only apply if the use/consumption of the goods is used within the EU. In this case, VAT would not have been charged when the manufacturers sell to Massdrop in US. This is because exported goods are usually VAT exempt (Zero rated supplies). So when your purchase via massdrop back into EU, VAT would be slammed on as there was no VAT to begin with if that makes sense.
To make things easier with an example. If you are based outside of the EU, you purchase an item off Amazon.uk, the total amount would include VAT. But when you check out and pay, the VAT portion of the price would be automatically deducted for you since you wouldnt need to pay VAT for that item as you will not be using it within the EU.
cherrykcI had the same thing, also on the 25th. It actually showed up in the USPS system first, I think FedEx was having some issues, hopefully they don't effect the actual shipments and instead is just tracking related.
cherrykcIts actually FedEx Smart Post, FedEx picks the item up from the distribution center in Edison, and transfers it to USPS who handle the last mile delivery.
It is the cheapest, least reliable shipping method offered by any of the major shippers, and Massdrop have indicated in a support ticket to me that they will not be able to offer upgraded shipping due to their agreement with FedEx.
Its kind if a fly-by-night operation, where no one is really responsible for the package, and the merchant is only interested in saving a few dollars. When shipping is free, like on this drop, its not as painful, but they have charged me close to $10 for this shady, sub-par service, and its really starting to get upsetting.
Aside from just no longer shopping on this site, there doesn't seem to be much that can be done, and never shopping here again is looking increasingly attractive.
Nick123456Well, I work in e-commerce, so this view comes from my own experiences and that of the company I work for. It's how I am familiar with their tech awards program, they gave us money (FedEx) initially as well, but like many other merchants we had to switch due to the large number of issues.
I'm sure the tracking number weirdness is black Friday / cyber Monday volume related, but the problems with Smart Post are well documented.
The personal side is that my town has a post office, but it only handles letter delivery, so the post office from the next town over handles delivering parcels. This causes frequent problems, and is the biggest reason I want to be able to use another shipping method.
TatteredmidnightAgree that Smartpost blows, but in my experience the problem is always on the USPS side. FedEx gets it to USPS quickly, but then I sometimes wait up to a week for the delivery once USPS has it in their hands.

NateBabsolutely man the sound improves a lot after burning...it was somewhat harsh in the mids at first and the bass was not quite there but now it sounds amazing. The resolution is top notch
dasmanThis has been my experience as well. I've had the "responsible" postal office lie directly to my face in person, until i stand there and they checked and found my package. They didn't even apologize for lying directly to me. Regardless of who fails to get met he package though, the issue is that these are often expensive items, and at the end of the day, there are frequent delivery issues with their chosen service, which they are locked into according to the response I received from Massdrop support.
Currently my headphones are marked "out for delivery", so I'm hopeful but I've been burned this far into it before.

MagreneUsually it takes at least 100 hours or so to burn them in, but I have of some people going 150 hours. I have about 25 hours and I am noticing a better sound. You be the judge, but at a couple hours a day, it may take about a month to six weeks.
AveryCHi avery, I received a tracking number for shipping on the 30th of October, but it appears my package was never handed over to Fedex. If all of the orders are fulfilled does that mean my headphones were lost?
sadredpandaDid you contact customer service. That's a very long time. I got my tracking number on 25th November and they are going to be delivered on coming Friday.
iAndreiHello Andrei, you will pay about 170 lei in taxes. I would say grab those while you can, they are a more practical version of the 650 and they sound fantastic. You can try the 650 in the avstore showroom, if you haven't yet. I drive them with a GeekOut 1000, which frankly is a bit of an overkill in terms of power. Surprisingly, a Huawei P8 Lite was also able to drive them almost decently, but it's worth to have a high quality amp.
Not particularly good for office, most of the ambiental noise leaks in.

iAndreiGlad I could help. If you live in Bucharest or you can go there easily , you should definitely visit the showroom. I went there because I missed the 2016 drop and I wanted to try them beforehand with my amp. It is a matter of taste, one must say. I prefer 650 over 600, but also over all of the much crisper Beyerdynamics and AKG K701. I don't remember trying the 598 or, if I did, they weren't that impressive I guess. The only ones that I found to bear the same sound signature and they do it like 10-15% better are the Oppo PM1, planar magnetic, around 6500 lei. So the 6xx definitely won't disappoint you IF you are looking for their specific relaxed and natural sound.

q_infestHi again. I'm afraid I don't live in Bucharest, I live in Timisoara. Not sure they have a showroom here, though. I do love the Sennheiser sound signature, and I'm pretty sure the upgrade will be justified and most appreciated.
When I got my 598s they were the same price as the 6xx will be, around 1000 lei, and , to me, they sounded and still do really good. Better than anything I ever owned before. I really enjoy the sound staging that the open design offers. The crisp , clear and relaxed sound.
I'm pretty sure I will enjoy them. And for this price, they are a steal. Just checked the 650's on avstore eariler today, and they are, like, 2000 lei now reduced to 1500 for a limited time :)
Thanks for your help, and I will post my updates here until I have them on my head, haha. Just one more quick question. Did you have to present any documents ( invoices and what not) when you went to the customs postal office to pick them up ?

iAndreiYes, once you join the drop you'll get a payment receipt, you must print that and present it to the postal office when you pick up the parcel. Essentially, you must provide proof that you paid that certain amount. You'll also have the invoice inside the box, which you must open for inspection.
q_infestAlso, regarding the sound signature, I preferred them over HD600, HD700 and HD800s. They are just different animals and taste is a major factor.

Updated 11/20: Hi Everyone - I have a quick update on the HD 6XX shipment. As of today over 10,400 headphones have shipped from the June 25-30 drop (this is about 93% of the drop). The remaining orders should leave our warehouse by the end of next week.
Once these units ship, we will begin to prep the next drop for shipment (members who joined drop from 7/10-7/31). This drop will also ship out in groups, and the first batch is on it’s way to our warehouse from Sennheiser.
We’re excited to continue to ship these headphones out ahead of the estimated ship date, and I will continue to provide an update each week with the overall shipping status. Thank you all for your patience!!

We have a quick update on the shipping status of the HD 6XX. The latest batch arrived at the end of last week, and as of this morning over 7,000 headphones have shipped.
We are expecting the next batch from Sennheiser to arrive early next week. Once the shipment arrives it will go through a quality control check and start shipping shortly after.
There have been a handful of questions around how we determine shipping order. I wanted to assure everyone that we do our best to ship in order of when you joined the drop. We send thousand of orders to the warehouse floor at a time, and while there may be a slight shuffling of order due to the way orders are packed and labeled, all orders in the same batch will ship within a few days of one another.
