I'm just finished some A/B testing with the Mass Drop Fostex TX-0.
Similarities - I was surprised that the soundstage is pretty similar even though the TX-0 is only semi closed - Both are very detailed, I can't hear the difference - Smooth mids - Punchy mid bass - I can listen to both for an extended time without fatigue
Differences -HD6XX is slightly harder to drive -TX-0 has a lower bass extension -HD6XX has tighter bass -TX-0 is slightly darker -TX-0 is more comfortable even though it weighs a lot more due to the HD6XX clamping force -HD6XX has a more pronounced treble
I think i hear some barely audiable sibiliance/static/artifcacts while playing Canon and Gigue in D Major. I. Canon on the HD6XX but I'm sure if it's in my head or the amp. Can someone listen to the song and let me know if you hear something odd.
Amp: Aune T1 MK2 DAC/AMP
Test songs from Spotify: - Paris Bossa (Kendra Shank) - Forever (Angelina) - Cocaine (Jackson Browne) - New One (Rodrigo Y Gabriela) - Canon and Gigue in D Major. I. Canon (Various Artist)
FatpugsThanks for that comparison. I doubt I'm the only one who wanted to know how the two compared (I only have the T-X0) and it's still tempting to get the HD 6XX. Another one that I wonder about is the T-X0 compared to the Modhouse Audio Argon. Anyone know?

PastafarianLemurOut of the two I would say the HD6XX is marginally better for someone who is looking for a neutral sound. For bass heads the TX-0 would be better. If you already have the TX-0 I don't think it's worth buying the HD6XX.
