Got my headphones in early November, and I have been using these with my LG v30 phone. (link to the phones DAC specs https://www.androidauthority.com/lg-v30-audio-797447/) I was a bit worried I wouldn't be getting the most out of the headphones with just the phone, but I have been very impressed. It was night and day difference between the LG V30 and an iPhone 6 in terms of clarity, loudness and contrast. I am thinking of getting a schiit dac/amp combo for christmas but I am wondering how much more 'difference' or overall improvement should I be expecting?

Le-SanchI too bought the LG V30 purely for the audio and can't wait to pair them with the HD 6xx's once they arrive

Le-SanchI am in no way experienced with this stuff but from my understanding if the headphone get loud enough with what you currently use you won't hear much difference, if any at all. That being said if you change the source material, using higher quality audio files, on your PC as compared to your phone you will probably hear some new things if you listen for them.

JimenezOmarI think you will greatly appreciate the two together. Although the iPhone 6 was able to 'drive' the HD6xx, they sounded muffled, with the extreme end of the low and high frequencies not being very pronounced. This was something I expected. I'm glad with both of my purchases, and I am sure you will to.

ManchineelThe HD6xx get plenty loud on the LGv30. Out of the arbitrary volume numbers (out of 75), the headphones are comfortable at 40-50, which was about equivalent to an iPhone 6 at max volume. My source for audio currently is Spotify premium (extreme quality) and I have been content with the quality thus far. I have no reason currently to move over to some other format due to the convenience of Spotify, but perhaps things will change for me in the future.

Le-SanchI ordered the schiit fulla2 and pair with LG V30. DAC is about the same between those 2, but the extra amp from fulla2 give it a bit volume and warmth. No HD6XXX yet so can't give you my full recommendation.
Overall, love my fulla2 purchase. It's $99 and well worth it for entry level.

Le-SanchI just picked up a Magni3/Modi 2 Uber stack. I'm new to the field also, and I hear a lot of talk on this combo being a great entry point. Not looking to pay too much, but just enough to have a decent powered setup to run these headphones well.

cnnrandersonI think you will be very pleased. I ordered the Magni3/Modi Multibit combo and have been listening to them for about a week. It is a definite improvement over my Fiio E-17. My HD6XX cans arrived today and they also noticeably improved the sound quality. At the low gain setting I listen with the volume between 11 and 2 at the high gain setting I turn them down to 7 to 9. Plenty of power and absolutely quiet when no music is playing.

gaknakJust got my Magni/Modi stack today! I have a little FiiO E-06 that I've been using for the time being, and I thought it sounded fine (weird settings that never really felt quite well rounded though, EQ wise -- still sounded quite nice!). Now that I'm plugged into this setup, I don't think I can go back. Every song sounds perfect; amazing instrumental separation, soundstage is huge, bass hits just right, etc etc etc. These headphones really are incredible and have to thank Sennheiser and Schiitt for their incredible, great priced hardware!
