Hi Everyone - I have a quick update on the HD 6XX shipment. As of today over 10,400 headphones have shipped from the June 25-30 drop (this is about 93% of the drop). The remaining orders should leave our warehouse by the end of next week.
Once these units ship, we will begin to prep the next drop for shipment (members who joined drop from 7/10-7/31). This drop will also ship out in groups, and the first batch is on it’s way to our warehouse from Sennheiser.
We’re excited to continue to ship these headphones out ahead of the estimated ship date, and I will continue to provide an update each week with the overall shipping status. Thank you all for your patience!!
Hi All - Quick update on the HD 6XX shipment. Over 8,700 headphones have shipped and we are expecting another shipment to arrive later today from Sennheiser.
We’ll continue to fulfill the remainder of this order as we receive the units, and we’ll update everyone on or by 11/20 with the latest info.
We have a quick update on the shipping status of the HD 6XX. The latest batch arrived at the end of last week, and as of this morning over 7,000 headphones have shipped.
We are expecting the next batch from Sennheiser to arrive early next week. Once the shipment arrives it will go through a quality control check and start shipping shortly after.
There have been a handful of questions around how we determine shipping order. I wanted to assure everyone that we do our best to ship in order of when you joined the drop. We send thousand of orders to the warehouse floor at a time, and while there may be a slight shuffling of order due to the way orders are packed and labeled, all orders in the same batch will ship within a few days of one another.
Thanks to everyone for their patience. I’ll provide an update next week with the latest information.
Just wanted to provide a quick update on the shipping status of the HD 6XX headphones. We have some pretty exciting news! The first batch of the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones has arrived at the warehouse in New Jersey. They are going through a quality control check and we expect them to start shipping out in the middle of next week. The headphones will be shipping out in batches, and we anticipate that all orders will be shipped before our estimated ship date of December 18.

How large is each batch? How much later will it be if you ordered on the 29 instead of the 26? Glad everything is coming together! Looking forward to it!
Does the order date make a difference? I was one of the first 50 people on the 26th, so I’m assuming I get mine first?

Assuming if they do it in order placement, it’ll all get shipped out in batches regardless. You can package one at a time and ship it to USPS but that’s too inconvenient, so they’ll rack up maybe 500-1000 batches and ship it to USPS or simply just call a USPS to pick up the whole 5,000 batch with their delivery vehicle.

I bought mine on the 26th so I was really hoping to be in one of the early batches, I did have to back at the higher price to get that though.

Thanks for the update (and I did get the email as well). While it's certainly very good news, it does mean that the custom cable I just ordered for the 6XX probably won't be here when I get the cans. I ordered from a one man operation who made me a similar beautiful braided cable for my HD700s. It sounds a bit better than the stock cables, is a better length for me (4 feet, even 6 feet is uncomfortably long for my setup), but orders take 2-6 weeks to ship. I figured I still had almost two months.
You might need to contact Massdrop support if you're not receiving these e-mails. I stopped receiving them and when I contacted support they said a spam complaint was lodged against Massdrop by my e-mail so they stopped sending e-mails. I think I accidentally fat-fingered the Spam button instead of the Delete button.
I'm guessing you're buying a cable from Ursine? If it's not too much trouble, can you take some pics of the cable when you get it? I'm interested in buying a cable as well but I don't know what some of the options for splitters/amp termination looks like.
Is there any sort of reference as to what constitutes a 'batch' or whether the orders will be shipped in order of purchase? Regardless I'm quite pleased to hear they're ahead of schedule!
Orders from June 26-30th are a batch. I’m assuming that was the first 5,000 units Or the first run before doubling to 10,000 units.
Seeing as I was a late June 26th order I hope you are right and I get a shipping notification within the next week or so. Christmas comes early this year!
My purchase date is June 30, hope my headphones will ship out in one of the earlier batches

Awesome news. I bought mine on the 29th. Actually, by accident at the time. I would have since picked them up later or in one of the follow-up drops, but originally wasn't sure if I wanted them or not. Joined the drop, got busy with work, drop completed and I got charged and figured for $200 I could do a lot worse, let alone not any better. Then I started getting excited about these and following their progress, and I'm really happy to be in the first group!

When the price dropped, your total should have automatically updated so that you were only charged the lower price at the conclusion of the drop. I joined the drop the same day you did, so I was on board at $249.99. But because of the price drop, they only charged me for the reduced price.
Perhaps you knew that already, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.
I am aware of that, I was referring more to the fact that most, if not all of the people to receive theirs early would have had to of joined at the higher price.
All the people who receive them early committed at a price of $250, but then Massdrop reduced the price to $200 so we paid the same as everyone else, $200.
I know, as I keep saying.
Think of it as a reward for the additional willingness to commit. ;)
My previous Massdrop was for an Infinity ErgoDox which shipped two months behind schedule, so having the Sennheiser shipping estimate go so far in the opposite direction is certainly a welcome change.
I'm going to assume you've been here a while from your 790+ likes. You know if they vaguely state that its arriving in batches its probably not going to be based on when you purchased it because all the units arrived at once to their warehouse. I remember from the blue bag drops that it didn't matter when you purchased it because some would get it and some would still be waiting on a tracking number. Even if you joined the drop earlier. I think its based around location (who is closest) or which location has a higher amount of people that need to get a shipment (giving shipping priority), but this is just my assumption.
HAHA, I ordered on the 25th as well! we are definitely a minority... let's just hope the 25th counts as between the 26th and 30th [it does count]. We have been waiting for almost a year for our pair of headphones (since we pressed buy on the first drop last year -and most likely have purchased another pair of cans in the mean time).

You don't need him to answer that. I've participated in several drops and every single one, the moment the label gets made, Massdrop updates the transaction on your "My Transactions" page with a tracking number. You also receive an email a little bit after that.

Massdrop is clearly not ordering it by who joined first.
I'm assuming they are shipping them in lots, so if you live in New Zealand like me it is unlikely that you will get them super early, as they will make sure that their shipping is as cost effective for Massdrop as possible. Still haven't got mine yet, but hopefully they will ship soon.

How is that possible possible? I ordered on the 27th and didn’t get a shipping notification. Are you on the east coast? Because I am as far from New Jersey as possible (California). I assumig this is a all region based
They're clearly shipping them in some fashion that isn't based on order date. I ordered on the 26th and am in the midwest. The lack of any sort of transparency of the shipping process is quite frustrating.

From what I have seen order status changes prior to an email notification. Nothing on either front for me so far.
Sounds like they either need to sort out the notification and transparency side of things or the shipping side (perhaps both).

Yeah, I'm not opposed to waiting (planned on Christmas delivery anyways) but the update getting my hopes up and then no transparency as to the shipping and notification process is frustrating. No update would have been better than this, more updates and transparency better still.

Even if you get the shipping notification, these are still gonna be shipped in batches. It is not like Fedex/DHL is gonna come over to the warehouse 5000 times to pick up 5000 shipment. And Fedex/DHL is not gonna go over to the warehouse and wait. They are probably informed of the huge shipment and wait for all the necessary paperwork to be up before bringing a huge truck to pick these up! I think the mental image you people are getting is that the item is on the move immediately, you know like how people send messages on crows/pigeon in Game of Thrones. Take the bird out of the cage, hook your headset on the legs and fly!
Even if you are the last to receive the shipping notification, you are probably together with the last 500.
Well aware of the batch shipping but it seems odd to say the batch is going to be shipping mid week and then for only 3-5 people to say they got a notification by the end of said week. This would seem to indicate omewhere along the line they either had a failure of the notification system or some sort of delay in the batch. More than anything I'm simply very curious as to how the process is working and in the absence of any kind of official update on things I don't find speculation to be unreasonable.

That would be true if all 5000 users from the first batch are constantly active on Massdrop discussion. People have other things to do than to constantly come here to post screenshots of shipping updates. Also, isn't it more probable that most people are just happy that they'll get it 2 months before the original agreed upon shipping date than to complain about it being late a few days?

On top of what @Jisheng said. If you google "Start of the week" you will get this " Starts Monday or Sunday. According to international standard ISO 8601, Monday is the first day of the week. As a regular working adult who work from Monday to Friday. I understand that most people think that the "middle of the week" means it is Wednesday. But if the start of the week is Monday and end of the week is Sunday, that would make the middle of the week "Wednesday, Thursday and Friday". So let's just accept that Massdrop did indeed start shipment on the "middle of the week", which is Friday based on ISO standard.
And as quoted from the original post "They are going through a quality control check and we expect them to start shipping out in the middle of next week. " It did say they are gonna start shipping and did not say that all of them will be out on said date. And also "expect" is not a "certainty" so I would accept that everything is going well and as informed since a few of them came out and commented that they received shipping information. We are also aware that Massdrop are prone to error. But I hope you agree that sending out 5000 items is no easy feat. There are loads of information which include sensitive information so it is not gonna be just "copy and paste".
(Not directed at anyone specifically) As for those that goes like "I am the first to order so I have to be the first to get". Why not start a drop and be the only one to order and see if you get anything in the end. The only reason this worked was because you were one of the 10,000+ people and not that you are the only one. I actually think it is more fair to ship randomly than first come first serve basis.
Lastly. This may be a huge thing and I am extremely excited about it too but do remember that this is not the only thing that is sold and shipped here. Let's be considerate and think about other drops (that you do not care about at all) that are working to get shipped right now too.
That does make sense, I haven't seen the percentage of people who are active on the site vs just ordering and forgetting.
While you may be technically correct, that would be the first time in my entire life someone said middle of the week and meant friday. When I say I expect something to be done for a customer by a certain date, at the first point I realize I will be unable to do so I say something. It isn't the extra days I care about (I was expecting december afterall) it's the lack of transparency and communication.
I would also categorize my feelings as confused and mildly irritated, in no way am I seriously upset or mad. While I expect the Hd6xx to be absolutely amazing, it isn't worth allowing the exact date of arrival to cause any serious level of distress.
I don't think there are any lack of transparency or communication. Massdrop said they will start shipping on said day. So the next update I would expect would be an update that says all of the first batch are shipped and when the next batch is expected to arrive.
They are not gonna update the numbers everyday like 50 are shipped today, 122 are shipped today, 230 are shipped today, at least I don't think they have the habit of doing that. If these 1 or 2 people happen to be the kind that do not want to waste a single effort to post to informed that they received tracking information, many may assumed that "non of the headset are being shipped at all" which is not true but would spiral into a huge rage(I can totally see that happening). There are even someone who ask for a picture of the shipping notification (politely), but he is probably just asking for a proof.
Just chill. As the saying goes, no news is good news. I rather things stay quite than to hear that something went wrong.

They never said anything about what constitutes a batch or what method they use for determining which ones ship first (by region, order date, etc) I totally agree that it is unreasonable to expect number updates all the time. I also think some more clarity as to the process would be nice.
I never once said anything until they gave an update implying they would ship by now and they haven't. I didn't give a damn when I expected them at Christmas and wouldn't have unless the 18th ship date came and went with no update as to what went wrong and how they intend to proceed.

I just ordered the same Schiit! It will be waiting patiently for the 6xx to arrive. The expectations are high. I'm going from Shure 215 IEM so I probably wont be disappointed.
Yeah going from the 215 you will love it. The Magni 3 definitely is a great amp as well, i tried my old M50X's and they definitely sound more refined than when i use them at work through the Origen+.
So let’s say Massdrop stay quiet and ship out the headset. Next you came here to look and someone post saying he received shipping notification. Won’t you go like “What! Why is there no update?” while in fact things are moving the exact same way as things are now. Or would you rather they hold back all 5000 units ready to ship before posting and shipped immediately. Where again, things will move exactly the way it is. You are just experiencing the same thing in a different perspective. As to how they determined who to ship first... do they even need to explain. As I said in my previous post. The fact that this drop worked is because of you and me and the other 10 thousands of people. Just because I am sleeping while the drop start doesn’t means I don’t deserve it as much as you who click immediately. Sorry if I sound aggressive but that is just an explanation with you as the topic but wasn’t directed at you personally.
They don't 'have to' do anything other than provide the product promised for the price. Fulfilling the most basic obligation is good but that it no way means going above that isn't good business.
I ordered on the 25th, and I was in the first 200 (because I was a victim of the website congestion on the first drop). And no shipping notification yet! Quite upsetting. I thought I would be in the first batch "in the middle of next week".

I was early the 26th and no notification for me either. I hope their notification system is having problems and we both actually have a shipment on the way. If not then somewhere along the line something else got messed up. Either way additional communication would be much appreciated.

That's true, but it's also true that Massdrop works weekdays. The fact that Cambo happened to post on the weekend doesn't invalidate the fact that a first-minute pre-order didn't get a shipping notification on any of the work days prior to this weekend. Just because Cambo happened to post on the weekend doesn't mean that Cambo was expecting shipping to update on the weekend.
Do you want them to not ship you yours or something? Just use the stock cable for a month..
It's great MD is able to get these things out so much earlier than expected (or is anticipating such, at least), but the continued lack of communication really puts a damper on everything. When the "middle of next week" came and went, it would have been nice to see a follow-up as to whether or not orders were actually being shipped out, etc.—especially considering they made specific reference to people who joined the drop between June 25 and June 30, which effectively got everyone's attention and raised the bar of expectations.
Naturally, MD is by no means required to do this, but I think we can all agree that good communication is enough to separate an okay service that you'll probably continue to use from a great service that you'd definitely continue to use and would happily recommend to friends and relatives.
From my nearly 4 years of experience on Massdrop, the batch that gets shipped first is totally unrelated to those whom joined earliest and is too unrelated to which participant # a person is given after joining. (With the exception of early-bird bonus for custom launch-day products with a serial# below a certain threshold, though even that too is random) Keep in mind, the items exchange hands more than once. Massdrop has their own warehouse team, which I presume are given separate assigned stacks of delivery orders, A, B, C, etc, and it comes down to who finishes their assignment first. (I worked for a small T-Shirt company many years back, and this was my experience.)
Then those orders are forwarded to a shipping warehouse where they're sorted yet again. The carriers hold no bias to who was first in line, a box is a box.
I do agree a lack of communication is worrisome but, come on... this is Massdrop. Unless you're apart of the Keyboard community, there are hardly any comms. Everyone's best bet is Online Support.

This is one of Massdrop's biggest shipments to date. Be patient and come to terms with Massdrop's lack of communication on the discussion page. It's nothing new and it is frustrating for those with the ability to type as seen on most drops. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

How about those bought in October? If those bought through end of June are currently estimated as shipping out Dec 18, then will the Dec 20 estimated ship date on my Transactions page be wildly inaccurate? Definitely understand first in first to get theirs.

Heh, yea, true. Well, here's hoping it'll be shipped about then. Might be later given all of the holiday shipping going on around then. I'm not in a rush...but at the same time I do want it in a fairly timely fashion. We'll see. That's usually the worst part of Massdrop, is the waiting. Although the Massdrop Made do tend to have nice tweaks and extra features on something you'll be using for years, so it works out just fine.

Because of the massive confusion among the community because of some email screenshots can you confirm how the shipment process works so we know once and for all and everyone can stop freaking out? Are these shipped by join position, complete random, or geographical location?

They updated the top comment saying 1500 of them have been shipped of the first 5000. Read that for more information. I ordered within the first minute (first hundred or so orders) and I received a shipping notification 6 hours ago. Your order will be prepared in the coming days.

Also heres another thing everyone is missing, Massdrop said they will START shipping middle of the week, NOT have then ALL shipped middle of the week.

The point of my post was to address your assumption that Cambo was somehow expecting Massdrop to operate on the weekends. As someone who pre-ordered the Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2, plus closely followed the release drama of CV1, I am quite familiar with delays, communication issues, and products being shipped "out of order". I've also experienced that sort of thing with Massdrop already, with my Infinity ErgoDox being delayed two months due to a production error that resulted in many people not getting properly paired circuit boards. If I understand correctly, that's still an ongoing issue for those people.
Personally, I'm thrilled that there's a strong chance at getting my headphones almost two months ahead of schedule. If that doesn't work out, so be it. After all, I was originally expecting December, and I didn't complain at all about the delays on my keyboard. I understand the limitations of "on demand" manufacturing, and am just happy that the keyboard I bought was everything I hoped it would be. The delay didn't bother me at all, and while I'm eager to try out my headphones, it's not the end of the world if they don't show up early or even on time. As long as any delays aren't too excessive (for me a two-month delay was not excessive) and the product is as advertised, I will be quite happy.
But just because I'm fine with waiting doesn't mean that I expect everyone else to be equally patient. If people want to try to make sense out of the shipping process, all I ask is that they avoid being hostile. I'm certainly not going to complain if people are willing to share info in the process, as Cambo did by sharing order info. But I will argue against a claim I feel was based on an erroneous assumption, as I believe your response to Cambo was. If you want to tell people to be patient, that's perfectly fine--even if it's one hell of an uphill battle. Just keep in mind that people talking about their orders does not automatically equal impatience. Everyone in here ordered headphones with a six-month lead time, so there's at least some demonstrated ability and willingness to wait.

I was told 7,500 from someone else here, but I could be wrong, I remember it being around 4,000 when I got home from my exam on the first day, the 26th, That was before the price drop, so, I would imagine it would be over 5,000...
