It’s the way it works. Massdrop has no inventory on these units. It’s a group purchase. Massdrop gets 10000 commited buyers and then turns to Sennheiser who then begins production on these 10000 units. So March shipping is quite fast for this kind of production, sales and delivery process.

unfortunately, with that kinda delivery I can't recommend Massdrop items. Delivery of an item(s) in a timely manner is part of good customer service... This is an opportunity to pick up your game !!

I then suggest that you purchase your things elsewhere if this kind of group purchase doesn’t suit your needs. Either you don’t understand the concept of group purchase to get an item at a significantly reduced price, or then the concept simply doesn’t fulfill your needs. Buy elsewhere then. You may buy the HD6xx at 199$ +15$ shipping on Massdrop and get then in April or buy the HD650 (the same as 6xx) at about 375$ on Amazon and get them Tomorrow if you pay the premium price for shipping...

And that is exactly what is going to happen. At least now consumers are aware of the quality of Massdrop's customer service and timelines. Thank you for your comments.

Massdrop has a very good service. They do what they say, and say what they do. No secrets. You are upset that the delivery takes so long, but that’s the deal. Either you pay less and wait a few weeks or buy at a much higher price and get them sooner. Both services are very good and Massdrop respects their delivery dates, and in many cases they are faster then what they initially declared. In my book that’s outstanding customer service. And let’s not forget about the price paid...

Pete, I understand you are defending a service that believe in, which I respect, however, that is not always the case here; This is an email sent to me directly from MASSDROP regarding an order I placed on another product at the same time as the HD6XXX... " Due to an unexpected delay, these orders may ship later than the original estimated ship date. Our apologies for any inconvenience. If we find that the drop is going to be delayed by more than 30 days, we will let you know. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button on your transactions page and our Community Support Team will be able to help cancel your order up until it is ready for shipment. " . This forum is meant to discuss products and buyers opinions, this has been my experience, Enough Said?

Well I think that they are being responsible to inform you.. They are themselves dependant of the manufacturing suppliers, who are themselves depend of their parts suppliers. I had some things being sent late from Amazon too, and they never informed me... even if the shipping took two weeks extra (and I don’t live in the woods, but in an important city). At least Massdrop gives you the choice of cancelling or continue on your order. I prefer a company that acts responsively than one that hides from you. Obviously if such a situation happens too many times then the problem is more important And could be related to the behaviour of the merchant...

Would they begin shipping orders out as the headphones are being made or would they wait until all 10,000 are made first before beginning to ship?

The drop ends at the earliest of 1) the last unit sold out of the 10000 allowed or 2) the end of the drop which is Tomorrow So don’t worry. I bought two of these since the very first drop in 2016. You will get your 6xx in time if you join the drop

I'm not worried. I'm just wondering how the process works. Would they wait until all 10,000 are physically built before beginning to ship or would they ship as they're being built? If it's the latter then perhaps some people would get their headphones earlier than anticipated.

In my case I always received my Massdrop purchases earlier than expected, by a few days if not a week or two.

Hmm okay. Well I guess I can only hope to receive mine a bit earlier than end of March. Do you know where these ship from? I'm in Canada.

From New-Jersey, not sure. Fulcroft Pensylvania or something like this, I just checked my last DHL following. I’m in Montreal, it took 3-4 days max to get here last time I purchased fromMassdrop.

Hmm okay. This is just my first time buying from Massdrop so I'm still unsure of how it all works. If I recall the 6XX are "made in Ireland" so I thought it might take a while to get to me once shipped.

They are manufactured by Sennheiser in their Ireland Plant where they produce all of their 600 series headphones. They also produce their HD25 series at the same plant. Then Sennheiser sends the Headphones in bulk shipments to Massdrop in the USA (Massdrop seems to receive the units in a few successive shipments). They are then inspected for quality control in the USA in Pennsylvania by Massdrop. Massdrop then sends individual units to its customers. The 3-4 day delay I was referring to is from the time Massdrop sends me an e-mail saying that my order is being shipped, with the DHL shipment number. Then, the shipment leaves Pennsylvania and is sent somewhere in New-Jersey or New-York to the DHL Plant, from where they are shipped to Canada Post, go through customs in Mississauga, Ontario and from there they are sent all over Canada to your door. A fee for customs commission + GST tax are charged to you at reception by Canada Post. There is no duty tax at Customs on electronic goods, only sales tax applied on the purchase price. All in costs are 23$ for Quebec residents, which is a bit lower than Ontario and some other provinces where the HST is in place (harmonized federal + provincial sales tax). In Quebec the sales taxes are not harmonized and Canada Post only charges the GST (federal tax). So in Ontario other customers on Massdrop have said the all in fees including tax is about 40$. That’s it.

Thanks for the info, I was expecting customs fees in Québec, but now I know exactly how much! It still a good deal. Can't wait anymore to enjoy them!
