Was excited to receive my HD6XX's today. Pretty amazing deal when I consider what I paid for my HD650's a few years back. I like the shorter cable, I could have lived without the 3.5mm connector, but the 6.3mm adapter is good quality. I obviously don't have a lot of hours on mine, but they sound pretty good off the SE outlet on my Jotunheim, and they sound very good coming of the balanced side of the Jot. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Magni 3 for these if you're on a budget. It's the only Magni I actually like with the HD6xx headphone line. The Magni 1, 2, and 2U never did any justice to any of the HD6xx line (IMHO). You can run them off of a Fulla 2, but it's not ideal. They pair really well with a Little Dot MK II and the right tubes (Voshkod or Mullard Black Holes), but I recently discovered that I'd never really "heard" my HD6xx line headphones until I heard them with my Woo Audio WA3. If you have the means and you love the HD6xx family, I HIGHLY recommend the WA3. The wait for the HD58X's continues.

OCBobHave you you used an Aune X7S with them before? Thinking of going that route.

CjuddI have not. I've used them (HD650/HD6XX) on Magni 1, 2, 2U, and 3, Vali 1 and 2, Fulla 2, Asgard 2 Valhalla 2, Jotunheim (w/DAC Module), NuForce Icon HDP, Little Dot MK II, and the Woo Audio WA3. I know "Z" really likes the Aune, and I tend to agree with him pretty consistently if that's worth anything to you. I would say that OTL tube amps and amps with balanced outputs have impressed me the most where the HD6xx series is concerned (though the 150ohm HD660S is a bit more flexible and forgiving).
