Anyone use the Mayflower O2 DAC/Amp with these? That is what I own but if it will sound better on a different amp I'm willing to change it up.

The O2 is a good companion for the HD650/6xx. You may spend more for a higher end amp, but is it worth it? I don’t think so. The sound signature of the O2 is neutral and the amp has enough power. I wouldn’t and don’t need more than this for my HD6xx. I don’t know the DAC inside the Mayflower version, but I bet you a loonie that you coudn’t tell the difference between its DAC and another delta sigma DAC in the same price range.

I have Massdrop O2 and HD6XX they are good together but my next step will be Massdrop X Cavalli CTH Hybrid AMP (Without SDAC version). One person replied me under CTH discussion page that O2 had a compressed sound vs CTH and also said that in long listening O2 becoming fatiguing. The "slight" tubey and musical sound of Cavalli CTH will be very good with HD6XX I think.

The 6XX sounds better in my opinion with a solid state amp. I have a Little Dot MK 2 and the 6XX sound more detailed and immediate with the Magni 2U. The 6XX is already rich sounding so it doesn't need tube warmth. On some music it's nice but the sound from a solid state amp is more accurate for me. You need both types of amps to know for sure. Until then you'll be wondering.

People who got Massdrop x Cavalli CTH Tube Hybrid are saying that it does not give so much tubey sound but just a nice touch. Also CTH is not changing it's character so much with tube rolling. That means again to me it's main character is not tube dependent. That is why I am still thinking CTH will be very nice with HD6XX.
