What amp would you guys recommend for HD 650s with a budget of around $200 - $300. I'm going to be pairing the amp with a Topping D30 dac.
Currently very satisfied with my 650s running out of the D30. I am able to get ample power already, so ideally want an amp that changes the sound somewhat. I feel like the 650s are a bit too upfront/in your face and find the bass a bit overpowering. I guess I would like sound to be more spacious and warm, with the vocals and upper range to be a tad more emphasized.
I am a complete noob when it comes to the audio world and could do with some guidance. Currently looking at the Massdrop CTH, Little Dot Mk2, dark voice, and Schiit Magni 3.

I heard dark voice is a good match for HD650 if you want warmer sound.

Darkvoice would be my first choice, alternatively you could go for the Schiit Vali 2

What do you think of the Massdrop CTH? After a bit of research it seems I was about wanting a warmer sound. I feel like the bass is already prominent and would ideally want a more laid back sound with clearer vocals and highs.

Havent heard it but looks quite nice. Tube swapping will also be cheaper with the 6922 on this.

I have HD6XX and your same DAC, I see you're on the right way hehehe. I'm currently using a Little Dot I+ hybrid amp, and after some tube & opamp rolling I can tell you it sounds great for this price. It has just enought tubey-ness to be able to hear a difference from pure ss amps, but given the relatively low output impedance and background noise it can also drive some low impedance IEMs & planar headphones very well. I'm also waiting for my DarkVoice 336se bought on the last drop to be shipped, I expect it further improves the tube sound and gives a touch more warmth to the HD6XX.
If you plan on driving a wide range of headphones (from low-impedance high-sensitivity IEMs to high-impedance over-ear cans like the HD650), or prefer a crystal clear sound rather than a warm relaxed "old school" tube sound, I'd suggest you to stay away from OTL amps like the DarkVoice or LD MKII/MKIII and go for a nice solid state amp like the Magni 3 (or a hybrid, like my cheap-but-great LD I+ or the more premium CTH). Otherwise, on OTL amps, price-performance king is probably the DV 336se (or maybe LD MKII if you're on a tight budget).

If you consider getting a LD I+/MKII/MKIII, check out this post for some good tube rolling info: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/little-dot-tube-amps-vacuum-tube-rolling-guide.563884/
