Wonderful headphones and spectacular price. Buy these now!
I love the sound signature of these headphones. Smooth yet somehow detailed at the same time. Not antiseptically clinical, but also not muddy. For me, a great balanced sound that provides easy and comfortable listening. These are my #1, everyday listening headphones.
Excellent with vocals and classical music. Perfect for classical piano music - which is a favorite of mine. For genres like pop and edm, they lack quantity (boom/slap) of bass, but make up for it with quality/clarity of bass. May not be everyone's favorite headphones for those types of music, but an interesting way to hear what is actually going on. No muddy/rumbling bass here.
They do seen to get better with break-in and with better amplification. I'm using a Magni2/Modi2 stack right now. Looking to upgrade and trying to decide what to get - Jotunheim? Lyr? Darkvoice? We'll see ...
These will be used for many years of enjoyable listening. So glad I listened to my son's recommendation and purchased these.

Does your Modi 2 move the HD 6XX good? I have a Vali 2/Mimby stack and the thing has great power. I have to keep it in low gain all the time. My beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition 600 ohm sound big and powerful with the volume knob on the 12:00 position. High gain is a no-go even if it sounds more aggressive and in-my-face.
Anything 250 ohm and under gets too loud past 10:00, and I have to keep it exactly at 8:00 on my CAL! because any bit more is louder than my happy zone. This little amp is beasty, and sounds as loud as my Asgard 2 around the same volume positions, but brighter, edgier and more upfront with nuances more obvious. The Asgard 2 is smoother, almost veiled in the sense of refinement, and has a wider/bigger sonic image, but with the nuances more blended in.
