Initial impressions of this hyped headphone was... not exactly what i expected, as although many reviews mentioned a dark tone. It was as if treble was way too shy to come outand play... especially compared to my HD25 monitoring headphone that was on duty till the 6XX arrived.
It has been 2 weeks and i can confidently say that I am accustomed to the sound signature and this deserves all the hype and comments about being awesome. (Headphone was on "burn in" duty for a few days straight playing music looped infinitely, even though I am not a true believer of burn in... but just in case)
The headphone sounds moderately mundane and gentle when plugged into my galaxy s8 or my pc. It wakes up once plugged into my schiit stack (magni3 + modi multibit) and the littledot mk2 (with Voskhod pre and power tubes).
The tube amp really makes this headphone an absolute must buy item. If you own a 6xx but not a tube driver, get a lil dot (or darkvoice) and hear for yourself how "delicious" and thick tubey sound does this headphone justice.
I am sure once people actually hear the 6XX, they will want one too.
Note that the above might mean moot when I receive the HE 4XX in a few days time and I might like either or.

How do you like them compared to the 4XX. What about the bass in both?

Please have a read on my review of the 4xx (review section) for a comparison. :)

Hey, I do remember reading your review and the remark about the bass at the end made me want to ask if you have played any games with the 6XX. A couple of users have mentioned that the 6XX lacks the "punch"in gunshot noises and being flat.

I use both headsets for pc gaming, but i do not play a lot of shooting games (prefer simulation or adventure/puzzle). I use the 6xx more than the 4xx due to comfort.
That bring said, gunshots sound fine on both. Perhaps typical gaming headsets boost bass for more oomph, with sound quality as a trade off... and gamers might be used to that more than a flat response.

Damn, well I guess whichever drops first will be my choice.
