I was looking to get a pair of headphones to upgrade from my current gaming headset and I was wondering if the Sennheiser HD 6xx is a good option for gaming.
It has an open back which is good for gaming, but you could probably find a better option for gaming. This is more for studio/audiophile type things. But if you want to listen to some music through them they are very good. btw since its resistance is 300 Ohms you'll need an AMP.
I was thinking listening to music in them also, because I listen to music quite a lot while I game, so i'm trying to find something that would be good for both gaming and listening to music. But the thank for your help btw.
Gaming headset only great for gaming and rubbish for music (heavy bass), include mic
HD6xx good for gaming and great for music
They work fine for gaming, but there are plenty of better options out there. These are really more for music. The soundstage is not quite there, open-back or not, bass is subtle, and there are better for out there for type of imaging you need for gaming. Personally, I think that the Fostex or AKG7XX that Massdrop sells are better for gaming if you are sticking to Massdrop.
While they are 300ohms, they are more efficient than my 50ohm HD598. An amp will drive them better of course, but pairing these with an iPhone 6 is even sufficient. The clarity (and even the volume) is outstanding without an amp.
I agree with on the gaming headsets. I don't really even think they are good for gaming once you to better headphones in general.
Yeah, I was surprised that they sounded quite good with my iPhone 7.
