Does anyone have a recommendation for an amp and/or DAC to run with the HD 6XX?
Preferably something that doesn't break the bank (<100$) and it doesnt need to just be from massdrop, but it does need to be available in Europe (the Netherlands).
Thank you for the recommendations!
micca origen g2 off amazon its great :)
I use them with a Schiit stack (magni 2/ modi 2), but that's 200$. I've used them with a Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS as well, sounds great (although slightly less transparent than the Schiit combo) and costs less than 100$.
Oh... en ze zijn allebei in Nederland verkrijgbaar (Schiit Europe zit in Zoetermeer, DacMagic XS kun je waarschijnlijk nog wel ergens online bestellen).
Under $100? How about the Schiit Fulla? It can certainly drive the HD6XX to a good volume but won't be as good as a $200 Aune T1 or Schiit Modi/Magni stack.
Schiit Magni 3 or Vali 2 hands down.
Top, dankjewel ga zeker even kijken.
Which one of the ones in the 200$ range would you recommend to a beginner. I looked at both of them (the schiit stack and the Aune T1) and I liked how the tube looked on the T1, but does it really add something, especially since its connected to the DAC instead of the amp. Thanks in advance
I always recommend the T1 over the Schiit stack, because that's what I personally prefer after hearing both a long time ago. But with the T1, there is the hidden cost of tube rolling, so in the long run will likely cost you > $200, or you can stay with the stock tube which sounds great already. The tube buffer on the DAC has an unique sound and overall the stock T1 has a more balanced sound and better clarity compared to the Schiit stack with the HD6XX. The Schiit stack has a bit of bass color that makes the HD6XX sound the warmer side of neutral, which some people prefer.
I've looked around a bit and found the Massdrop CTH + SDAC DAC/Amp, do you know anything about this amp+dac combo and how it compares to the aune t1, because Ive read a lot of positive feedback about this dac+amp combo
I think it is going to be a much better combo than the Aune T1. Although I would still slightly prefer the T1's DAC, but the amp side pretty much overshadows that. I haven't listened to the CTH amp but someone I know and trust puts it in the $600-700 bracket. I think the MD/Airist R2R with the CTH would be an endgame for many people.
