After selling 47,585 of these, it would seem like Massdrop could generate IN-STOCK-DROPS for the HD 6XX. Surely by now, you have proven that it is not a risk to order stock ahead. They would likely sell out even faster than those that we have to wait several months for delivery. What do you think?
Good idea... but seeing how slow the last 3~4k units sold in the last couple of months, I think the peeps that want it already have it, and Massdrop will maybe send in a final order for stock and the 6xx will be a distant memory and never to be produced again.
Great idea although I think the barrier to this is Sennheiser. All IN-STOCK-DROPS are made and distributed by Massdrop, while the HD6XX is made by Sennheiser, distributed by Massdrop.
I don't think Massdrop manufactures anything, they market a Massdrop brand, sourced from 3rd party manufacturers.
And the AKG 7XX is made by AKG and they have it in stock. :)
If true then the IN-STOCK-DROPS page is a misleading, it clearly states "Made by Massdrop", so which made me assume the AKG headphones are made under supervision, and somehow Massdrop got the rights to make them while only paying AKG a commission on products sold.
I think you're right on the point where Massdrop has rights to the massdrop specials, such as the 4XX, 6XX and 7XX... Massdrop probably partakes in tweaking the design (dunno about drivers), and they own the rights to the tweaked design. But I don't think they supervise the factories, am sure AKG and Sennheiser know better on how to produce headphones than Massdrop. :)
Bottom line, I think the "Made by..." and "manufactured by..." is quite a loose term these days.
Whatever it is, I love my made by Massdrop 6XX and Nuforce NDC3! If only my bloody 4XX gets delivered (over 20 days in Germany according to tracking, and DHL themselves don't know where exactly it is!)
