I've used various pairs of headphones in the past, most in the ~$150-200 range. I've spent most time with the Shure SRH-840s and the Bose QC25s, and my main listening speakers are Yamaha HS8s with the subwoofer. Enter the Sennheisers, and I was blown away by the quality of the playback, at this point I'd thought I had heard the best I was going to find without spending four figures.
They're also very comfortable, just light enough to not cause fatigue but still feel substantial and quality. The cable is a bit short and there's only 3-4 inches of separated cable going to each earcup (and yes, the wires go to each individually) so it feels a bit like I'm wearing one of those savanna hats with the adjustable string to hold it on your head. Luckily the cable can be swapped out for a different design. By nature of them being open back there is some noticeable sound leak, so this is not the pair to bring to the office with you. The benefit is that the sound stage sounds very good.
In summary, this is probably the best set of headphones you'll find for $200, quite possibly the best you'll find under $500.
