Should I pull the trigger on these if one already has the HE4xx?
Will they be available in the future again or will they gain collector status?
Also are there are upcoming drops or rumors for even better / more expensive headphone MD collabs like a HD8XX or something?
It kinda seems like they're getting rid of stock to make way for something...
Edit: I'd really like a closed back headphone collab like a modded ATH-M50x or M70x
Why M50X and M70X are garbage.
I would have to say yes/no because it depends if you want a more fun all around kind of headphone vs detail headphone for specific genres.
The Hd6xx is more dynamic details in highs/mid but lacks tiny bit of bass and sounds only good with certain genres with the proper amp and dac setup since it takes more to power up the hd6xx. The build is mainly plastic but its durable.
The he4xx has plenty of sound stage thx to planars bass, mid range and highs ( not as detailed as Hd6xx) but a lot more fun/ easy to listen to all genre kind of headphone. It very easy to power up for these planars. The headphone materials are nicer than the hd6xx.
If you follow innerfidelityTyll would say he prefers he4xx over the hd6xx.
Thanks for the detailed response.
Have heard lots of people say Tyll is quite biased towards his subjective audio preferences, not sure how accurate that is .
I've read his glowing review on the HE4XX though. It's like he praised them too much (compared to his HDXXX review) like he just discovered a new planet. Maybe they are that good...
Surprisingly i think tyll might be right. I prefer my he4xx over my monoprice m1060s because it sounds more refined. M1060 is a notch up for bass but the mid and highs arent as refined as the he4xx. I wish i had a hd6xx to try to wait for my focal elex to come in.
