This is nothing that hasn’t been said, but this is simply the best deal in amazing headphones in the world. These are gorgeous, well-built, and brilliant-sounding headphones for a ridiculous price. I would recommend to anyone to pair them with a decent amp and just enjoy music. I’ve been diving back into my lossless music collection because of how great these headphones Sound. Buy them!
I've been thinking of re-importing my CDs in lossless since I have the 58X and soon will have the 6XX. Is it worth it? I have my music in 256Kbps AAC right now.
It is worth having a collection of lossless music. It's kind of a pain. The apple lossless rips through iTunes work really well. I just have a 2 terabyte external drive with my whole music collection on it. I also use Tidal for lossless streaming. It sounds amazing. 256kb music sounds hollow compared to lossless.
Hmm interesting. It would certainly take awhile as I have over 200 CDs easily. I've tried importing in 320Kbps and Apple Lossless and listening between the two and I couldn't really tell the difference. But I've heard it's good to rip in Lossless as a once for all backup. In case something were to happen to my CDs I'd have the lossless copies on my hard drive.
The higher end your headphones get and the amp you use really make a difference to the benefit of lossless rips. I'm using a Schiit Magni 3 amp and it brings a lot more of the quality out with the 6xx headphones. That's when I can really tell the difference.
yeah makes sense. I soon will have the 6XX and will probably get an Aune X7S amp. Right now I have a Micca Origen+ DAC/amp combo.
It's not a bad idea to have lossless backups. As far as sound goes I have a hard time telling the difference between 256+ AAC/MP3 and FLAC. I primarily listen with my 6xx with the following chains.
Google Play Music or Plex AAC/MP3/FLAC ->Chromecast Audio ->DarkVoice 336SE
Google Play Music or Plex AAC/MP3/FLAC -> MacBook Pro -> Aune X1S/X7S stack.
It could be my ears or my gear. YMMV.
