1) Is this the last time these will be available?
2) Are these *still* worth it if one has the HE4XXs and SHP9500s and kind of wanted a closed ear headphone so people don't know what I'm listening to...but always wanted the HD6XXs regardless?
That would make it 3 open back headphones and if one were to travel....welp I couldn't use any of them in public.
I was thinking of passing on these and maybe getting the good ol' m40x for public use.
Which ties into question #1, this is the final countdown or will more be made?
I highly highly highly doubt that this is the last drop. It's one of Massdrop's all-time best selling products.
1) no it wont be last time available.
2) Not worth it because the He4xx powered up on amp is more fun headphone compared to the hd6xx. Focal elex does everything the hd6xx does but with more bass, refinement and build/sound finesse.
Save up that $200 for the focal elex its an upgrade over the hd6xx. Hd6xx is a lot harder to drive to get that sound you want compared to focal elex and he4xx.
I paid $689+ tax for my focal elex with my $10 off coupon. If you really can't afford the focal elex then just get the hd6xx.
HE4XX lets you hear more, the HD6XX is more emotive. HE4XX is more general purpose while the HD6XX is usually the preferred for acoustic and vocal genres. If you listen to a lot of metal or EDM, the 4XX's are probably better for you. Both headphones require different things to make reach their full potentials, 4XX - lots of current, 6XX - lots of voltage, but it's certainly easier to reach the sweet spot with the 4XX's.
Don't worry too much about future drops of these. Massdrop/Sennheiser won't stop until every man, woman, kid and their dog owns a pair of HD6XX.
My lizard will soon have a pair :-) Thanks for the help chieftain!
Thanks man. Yeah I've been mirin the Focal Elex from afar pretty expensive but real Hi-Fi though....one day...
Dont even bother getting HD6xx if u have SHP9500. It smokes HD6xx in every department except just the bass. SHP- more detailed, soundstage, livelyness. I just dont get the hype with HD6xx.
