I have a question
will these components be able to drive this headphone?
ESS Sabre 9018Q2C dac Texas Instruments LME49720 amp Realtek ALC1220 audio codec
these components are part of my motherboard (aorus gigabyte z370 gaming 7) in the computer.

roundhousekickDoubt if anyone could answer this unless they have the same motherboard. I have an Acer Predator laptop and that has enough power to sound OK, quite good actually.
Instrument separation, overall clarity and resolution can be improved with even a cheap (USD 100) external DAC/Amp.

roundhousekick what andyMcc said is probably the best answer but...
LME49720 amp has 23 to 26mA max output current. 6xx doesn't need much current (~8.4mA Irms 11mA peak for 110 dB SPL - that's pretty loud. ~23.6mA peak for 116 dB - that's really really loud)
The voltage supplied to LME49720 is sort of a question mark. 6xx do need some voltage. Assuming your motherboard and my motherboard grabs the same voltage rail from the psu, it'll get to about as loud as you'd want it but that's it. Any sort of digital EQ with -6dB pre-amplifying or more and you'll be asking for more volume.
In other words, you'd be at the limit of your motherboard driving 6xx. But I made some pretty big guesses and what you call loud and I call loud might be way different. Maybe your MB can squeeze out a little more voltage or significantly less- who knows.
side note: many premium headphones demand a lot more current than 6xx. also, there might be another buffer amp that isn't mentioned to supply more current. MBs leave a lot of unknowns >.>.

roundhousekickJust to add that I have swapped in the LME49720 amp chip in my FX-Audio DAC 6 and it improved the detail retrieval and made the unit more musical, however it only powers the pre outs as there is an additional amp for the headphone stage.
These are pretty good headphones and a steal at the price. I would just get them and get then add the amps at a later stage if you need them. The 580 might even be a better option.

AndyMccthanks for the reply! it seems that onboard really isn't suited for these type of quality headphones.
i really just wanted to avoid having using an external dac/amp since it takes up quite a bit of space on my computer table.
i have an external dac amp lying around so i guess i'll have a go at them when the hd6xx arrives.

roundhousekickI had an old unused Musical Fidelity V-Can amp that I picked up on sale for USD40 many years ago. After brushing of the dust it worked beautifully powering the HD6XX easily. Can understand the space issue as I live in Hong Kong.
