If i run these through my 150 ohm amp, how much of the sound will i miss out on? I'm new to this audiophile thing.
I think these are rated at a 300 ohm impedance which does require a bit of power to drive but I think that you should be ok at 150 although I feel as you won’t get 100% quality pass though
should be alright to be honest. these are pretty sensitive
Need specs. What power can your amp drive?
Here's a rule to live by. If an amp maker only publishes 1 power spec, they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes. You need to see both low and high impedance power ratings. Low impedance output power is generally limited by an amp's ability to drive current. High impedance output power is generally limited by voltage output. They are very different animals.
For HD 6XX you need high voltage out. 12Vpeak (24Vpp) or more is a good target for them. that equates to around 240mW @ 300Ω, but only ~30mA. It is important to realize though, that this is going to cover 120dB peaks which you can get listening at around 85-90dB rms. If you listen at a low volume, you should be good with lower output power.
Not much power, only a few hundred mW. They do require high voltage though.
Gotcha I just got mine they max out at 500 mW do not so much power but that voltage is quite ugh indeed
Someone on Massdrop who knows what they're talking about? What is this?
They seem to be a rare breed, I'll give you that. There are certainly people around that know more than I do though.
Funny we should meet Joomy not long after this exchange.
Lol. I'm just poking a bear on that one. It's always a fun argument to get going on.
I promise I'll quit trolling after a little bit.
