The sound is definitely 5 stars, but you can definitely see where the savings are derived on the overall aesthetic. I think if I had known how well I was going to like (okay, LOVE) the sound, I would’ve spring for another $50-100 and bought a pair of 650’s. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t look bad, they just don’t look up to the usual high standard of fit and finish I’ve come to expect from other Sennheisers I’ve owned (Momentum x2, Amperior). But if you don’t care so much about that kind of thing, by all means pull the trigger. The sound does NOT disappoint. I’ve used them with the DaxMagic XS v2, and an LG V10 which includes a built-in headphone amp and premium DAC. Both of these drive the HD6XX with no issue. I have also used an old iPhone 5S and it’s definitely adequate. For critical listening, I still prefer my Beyerdynamic DT880 250 ohm, but for all around listening, these can’t be beat. Oh, and a note about clamping force. I have a BIG head, but I can still wear these all day with no issue. The Beyers are more comfortable, but I’m totally happy with either one.
