I found these not very good at all. At first I thought there was something really wrong because of the very low sound output, even when driven with a Bryston BHA-1 headphone amp. And vs all of my other headphones they are not very musical or enjoyable.
I was disappointed also when I heard the hd6xx through my Arcam Rhead. The problem with this headphone is the cable, it's a sound choker. Bought the Cardas clearlightheadphone cable on the last drop, it changed everything from the low to highs. Now they are able to reveal my sound system. So if you if you want to hear how good your Bryston can sound, you have to get rid of that cable or else your are stuck with that low end sound.
How can a cable be a "sound choker"? The signal either flows through a cable, or it does not, that is, the cable works, or it is broken. There is a low probability that If you did a double blind test with your cables, you would not be able to distinguish between them. Your amplifier can color the sound and the headphones will have a color, but the signal from amp to the headphones will always be the same, regardless of the cable brand.
Why is the stock Hd6xx headphone cable a sound choker. Well it makes the
headphone sound like a $200 headphone. There is just to much loss of detail
in the music with this cable, it simply sounds flat.
