Please, please PLEASE look at the HD58X Jubilee before trying to buy this.
was there a specific reason?
6xx's sound better , dont compare only drivers , buy 6xx
There is something called “research and development” and it has the many purposes. Th r&d of hd6x0 was to make the best natural sounding headphone, the hd58x answer to the necessity of a certain type of customer to have big bass at low cost in the shape of the legendary hd6.
Dunno why you're trying to hammer a nail harder in. I don't care about your perceived opinion if the HD58X is technically better or not. I just got my HD58X today and they sound as good as the HS660S that I tried last week. They will sound much better after a weak of breaking in. Thus once again.... Sure, to each their own
I'm speaking about brand's goals, I don't speak about performances. I sold my 58x because their bass is too much fo my tastes. But as you know Massdrop wants to make happy a lot of people with the x variants, and in an audiophile perspective the 58x is a big step down from the hd6xx. Speaking about the fun factor, yes, it's a lot more exciting. I have not heard the 660, so i will not speak about these, but it's arguably improbable that their quality is the same...
Sure, just done with the audiophile "theory" of what sounds better. I studied classical and they reproduce very accurately. Just done, so move along
Btw if you found the HD58X too bassy all you have to do is remove the fiber diaphram behind the driver. That fiber and another paper diaphram are the only perceivable differences between the HD660S and HD58X
