what is the difference between this and hd650?
By all the reviews I've read and watched they are the same headphone except for the color and cable. Don't take my word for it though since I don't own either at this time.
I hope they are the same. Fingers crossed.
They audio drivers are the same except the HD 6xx has some minor cost cutting such as cheaper packaging, more plastics, cheaper ear cups, etc. They sound identical to each other if that what you're worried about.
I think u are misinformed, the only difference is the color and the fact its a matte color finish. U get the same packaging, same everything.
Did you compare them side by side?
Then why is the price difference?
thats why massdrop is massdrop and besides... it’s a 15+ year old headphone.
Only Color and shorter cable
And the latest driver change (aluminum housing instead of the old black cloth).
The 650's have a 10ft. cord and a 1/4" jack which I personally prefer. These have a 6ft. cord and come with an 1/8th inch jack. They have also been "re-tuned" to make them sound better with crappy audio sources like compressed Mp3's. Most young people today either have never heard, or just don't appreciate analog audio...sad.
once you go hi res or vinyl there is no way back
Hi Bp0361...Reminds me of the joke, there are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't. :-) I never liked digital music, and never left vinyl. I find digitally compressed music very tiring on my ears, lifeless, and without warmth. I still have every LP I ever purchased, and own more MoFi's than I can list. Hi def...I'm in total agreement...once you go 4K, there's no going back. It's nice to see vinyl making a comeback! ;-)
Depends on if the HD650 has the black or silver driver.
The HD6XX is literally the same as HD650 with the silver driver update (after 2007 I believe, I don't remember exactly). It has slightly raised treble and slightly toned down bass compared to the older, woolly and dark, black driver HD650.
