Just wondering on these. I haven’t found an amp or cord that makes these sound anything other than “muffled”. Muffled might be too strong of a term but they certainly lack transparency. Switching to other cans like ATH-M50x is like night and day. Could there be something wrong with mine or is it just the sound signature of these?
From what I understand; these headphones need "broken in". There are many different terms but that's the laymen. People claim anywhere from 50 to 250 hours before that happens. After a few nights of blasting some music through mine they started to sound much better.
I too had the same gripe about my old Beyer DT 990s and these new headphones, they didn't sound much better at first.
... Now something about this clamp force...
To follow up, I’ve determined that the headphone section on my amp is not very good. They sound much better through my TEAC (and after another 24 hours of burn in). I retract my comments on the muffled sound. We’ll call it smooth for now.
If u want an eye opener buy a Schiit Jotunheim with a balanced cable
