Since MD won't ship to Canada via USPS (which would be a lot better for their customers), you are pretty much guaranteed to be paying all kinds inflated/bogus charges that courier companies charge, as well as taxes which may be technically accurate, but that in actual practice Customs would sometimes choose via their discretion not to charge if it was left up to them (although even with that being true, usually they wouldn't let an item that is over $100 slide on the taxes). Whereas the couriers MD uses will assume that Customs would have charged taxes 100% of the time, and so the couriers will always charge you every cent of those taxes. I live in Canada and when I bought LSR 30X from MD a long time ago, MD shipped the speakers in one box and the ~$5 USD cable that came with the product in another box that was shipped separately. The ~$5 USD cable ended up costing me about $40 CAD worth of invalid taxes and other bogus charges which I had to pay so that the post office would release the parcel to me. At the time, I didn't know that parcel merely had the cable inside it, as I had purchased a $200 USD DAC at the same time and I thought the DAC was inside that box. So thanks to these appaling shenanigans, I ended up paying ~$40 CAD for a ~$5 USD cable. If I had known the cable was in the box, then I would have refused the parcel rather than let myself be scammed. And the reason the Post Office charged me such a high amount of money was because either MD itself or the courier MD hired didn't list the value of the cable as its accuarate and true value (i.e. $5 USD). Rather, they listed the cable value falsely as having a value of the purchase price which I paid for the speakers themselves (which were about $280 USD...and for which I also had to pay the ~$40 charges again, a second time, in order to receive the parcel that contained the speakers). So, I advise everyone to beware of the trumped-up charges that will probably be coming your way whenever you buy anything from MD that ships to Canada.
