Coming from Sennheiser HD555 and Beyerdynamic DT-770 I can tell that these cans are the best from both worlds - open-back (no trapped heat, sound from environment) and bassier (not as bassy as DT-770s) than HD555s that I had used previously. In short - very, very good headphones with solid build quality. I do not regret buying these one bit.

I also own both the DT770s and the HD6XX. And I love both for very different reasons. I love the HD6XX because they never offend. You can throw every piece of music at them and it sounds great (especially vocals). But they are not the most detailed headphones (that becomes especially apparent when you listen to metal). The DT770s are just energetic fun cannons: Deep bass and an extremely fast response. But on some tracks they can sound a bit off. I think both headphones complement each other pretty well in a collection since they are on completely different ends of the spectrum: Laid back vs. exciting.
