Do these ship with balanced cables? I'm having trouble finding a concrete answer. Otherwise, I'm looking at the Periapt Cable: Type 4 - Dual 2 pin Senn HD Series Which I believe are balanced cables. Frankly, I don't even know what balanced cables do, but I see a lot of talk about them so am considering trying them out. thanks in advance.

Balanced cables cancel out outside interference and noise that regular cables can pickup from things like cell phones, generators, noisy power supplies, ect. They also cancel out any microphonic effects the cables might have. Both the devices on either end of a balanced cable must also support the ACTIVE signal processing balanced cables require. However they will not do anything to filter noise picked by your headphone amp or DAC, regardless of the source. Most headphone ''''''''balanced'''''''' cables aren't truely balanced in the traditional sense but just have seperate shielding for each wire and some extra grounding, which can be better then regular cables. To be honest, with runs as short as headphone cables I'd be surprised if it made a noticeable differance unless you use your headphones next to a transformer.

These ship with a non balanced cable but as far as I know the wire these ship with have separate ground wired for each cup so if you can do a little work then go ahead and buy a 4 pin xlr connector , chop the 3.5 mm jack off and resolder the 4 wires onto the xlr connector. This will give you a balanced xlr cable which then you can buy a bunch of convertors for like xlr to 6.5mm , xlr to 4.4 pentacon, xlr to 3.5mm so that you can plug it even in a non balanced amp. This guy chopped the cable , made one side male xlr , other side female xlr . https://m.imgur.com/a/Kas3H

https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/6spae9/made_a_balanced_cable_from_hd650_stock_cable/#ampf=undefined Another guy modded his cable with instructions https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/59tdq3/modded_my_hd650_stock_cable_in_anticipation_of/ There are few more guides available too , and this is very cost effective it will only cost like 10-15 dollars compared to like paying 70 dollars for a periapt cable.
