I bought these along with the Topping D30 and Atom Amp as well as the mod mic 5 to use mostly for gaming and music on Xbox and PC as well. I can hook the headphones to the Xbox via the amp and dac and it works flawlessly, but as far as the mod mic goes I can use it but not hear the party chat using the 6XX though the AMP/DAC. I bought a 3.5 mm y cable with the proper poles to work on the Xbox one 3.5 mm port due to the mod mic not having the correct poles by default. So I plugged the headphones and mic both into the controller and they still work better than any other headphones I’ve used on the Xbox and is the only current way to hear party chat and use a mic. So question is will the Xbox one controller harm the 6XX since they are 300 ohm headphones and it’s also powering the mod mic as well? Or is the underpowering not a problem as long as no clipping or distortion happens? Thanks in advance for the replies.
No, they will not harm the headset. The 300 ohms is just to show you how much resistance a headset has. The higher the ohms, the more resistant. In other words, think of it suggestion to how much power your amp should. The higher the ohm, the more power your amp will need to be to get them to a decent volume. I think the only "problem" you'll have with the 6xx plugged into the controller is lack of volume. But maybe they're loud enough for you none the less.
Do you know if it's fine plugging in a Mic Aux / Headphone Splitter to plug into my Massdrop O2 Amp/Dac?
I'm using the 6xx with a modmic as well, but I'm not sure if it's supplying enough power or if the mic can passthrough the amp/dac
I don't think the mic can go through the dac amp. But if it could, I doubt power will be much of an issue. I don't personally have the o2 dac/amp so I can't say this for sure though. But yeah, you might need to plug the mic into another mic jack.
