I've had the 6xx for over a year, and though I've been happy with it, I haven't loved it. It's too laid back. But then I discovered the Sonarworks True-Fi software. It's a super easy to use head phone equalizer that can optimize the frequency response of 227 different headphone models. It's such a huge improvement and a bargain at under $80. I'm using the USB DAC from the Monoprice Desktop Amp feeding the line-in of a Corda Jazz headphone amp (superb). Stream a few tracks on Tidal. It's easy to hear the improvement. Most, if not all of the veil is gone. It has a setting based on age and gender that compensates for high-frequency hearing loss. Plus an adjustable bass boost. The only downside is it only works over a computer. I can hardly believe how great the HD6xx sound now. 10 day free trial, but I bet most people will be sold almost immediately.

You can also install Equalizer APO, PEACE, apply Oratory's Harmon pref curves and get better EQing than True-Fi, all for free ;)

I tried to install this multiple times on WIN10 and couldn't get it to work. Sometimes ease of use beats free.
